Daily Inspiration, November 17th

“The recipe for beauty is to have less illusion and more Soul, to retreat from the belief of pain or pleasure in the body into the unchanging calm and glorious freedom of spiritual harmony.” (Science and Health, page 247)

Soul is God’s conscious awareness of Himself, all that constitutes Life as it really is. We are privy to this true perspective, are able to relax into and release ourselves to that freeing sense of life that is true beauty and satisfaction. We can beat a hasty and joyous retreat from the belief that everything we experience is related to our body and its sensations.

Life is more beautiful than that. We are more beautiful than that. The pleasures and pains of sense are illusions, never solid or reliable Truth, never the arbiters of how we are doing or of who we are. Soul brings to what may be a wrong sense of body, a limitless concept of it—man unfettered from that belief that his body is his life and that it contains his freedom or his slavery.

We are under God. Our being is forever beautiful because it is radiant reflection, not a clod of matter whose sensations can bring agony or ecstasy. We can see and know ourselves truly, see our faces clearly, recognize our grace and loveliness, when we leave that illusion of matter body for the body of ideas that constitutes our changeless identity as the accurate expression of God’s own magnificence!
