“O Lord our God, let your sweet beauty rest upon us. Come work with us, and then our works will endure; you will give us success in all we do.” (Psalms 90: 17, the Passion Translation)

Let’s open our hearts and our whole lives to God. Let’s remember that yielding to God’s purpose and presence is welcoming sweet beauty into our experience. It is grace abiding with us to show us loveliness that endures because it has God’s loving intention behind it.

Success is not about beating others at some game of work and life. We find true success and a sense of satisfaction as we allow God to come work with us. When ego and human will try to run the show, we are out of sync with the divine design. We may advance, but we may also lose some of what is best for us and what is ultimately more pleasing, productive, impactful, and progressive.

Let’s do our best to quiet that voice of personal sense within that feels it is in control, with all the burdens that come with that standpoint, and instead release ourselves to God’s beauty, His grace. Thus, we are able to hear God’s direction, to follow His wisdom, and to enjoy the success that truly blesses all.

“As a drop of water is one with the ocean, a ray of light one with the sun, even so God and man, Father and son, are one in being.” (Science and Health, p. 361)

We are a part of something amazing. We are at one with God, the infinite Almighty, the very Source of all Life and Truth and Love.

A drop of water may appear so small and insignificant, but it is made of the very substance that is the expanse of the ocean, with its power and beauty and grandeur. A ray of light may gleam through our window and seem like such a small sign of the sun’s light in our life, but that beam has the full sun as its source and is inseparable from its warmth and energy and constancy.

We can remember that our identity is the expression of the fullness of God. We are unique, and yet we can neither be separated from the Source, nor can the Source be whole without us—without that drop of water, that ray of light, that is necessary to its fullness.

Let’s realize how awesome this makes us, and also how invulnerable we truly are. All that God is remains in us and we remain in all that is God. We will always be at one with His loving Life and perfect Love, and we can also never truly be separate from one another, from His wondrous creation.

“And so I insist—and God backs me up on this—that there be no going along with the crowd, the empty-headed, mindless crowd. They’ve refused for so long to deal with God that they’ve lost touch not only with God but with reality itself.” (Ephesians 4: 17-18, the Message Bible)

We must wake up to reality. Let’s not allow the world’s pervasive point of view to mesmerize us into losing our grasp on what is real and important, healing and right.

We have to and can stand out from the crowd by being mindful, rather than mindless. We can stop being led by the fears and blame, darkness and doubt, that can be compelling because no deliberate nor deeper thought is required of us.

This ignorance—conscious or unconscious—keeps us living lives that are small and limited, even if it feels easier to be following the crowd. There is no true power in numbers when there is no God, good, Truth in them. If we are joiners of whatever is popular or simplest, we may be accepted by others, but have we not then left behind an opportunity to wake the world to something more true and meaningful? Have we not, in essence, lost ourselves in the crowd and forgotten who we truly are?

Reality is not what the masses believe but what God knows. Let’s be willing to turn away from the empty dream and to wake to learn more of the radiant reality of Life as it really is.

“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray…Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” (Philippians 4: 7, Message Bible)

Breathe in and accept the Truth. Just allow the awareness of the Christ, the Truth of our oneness with God, to settle you down. Be willing to set aside fears and worries and to receive the tender touch of God’s assurances.

Do your best not to argue for your complaints and anxieties. They may feel justified, but they are not your fate tomorrow nor yours to ruminate on today. This moment has a blessing for you. There is an opportunity right here and now to feel peace, wholeness, and hope.

The world argues that we must make material concerns the center of our lives, worrying along from problem to problem, one day after the next. But when we let in the Truth of divine Life and Love, the control of Soul over ego, we become acquainted with the true center of existence, the real core of our being.

This gentle grace and willing wonder shows us that there is good to experience and to expect, and that we can stop fretting and start feeling free.

“Let my passion for life be restored, tasting joy in every breakthrough you bring to me. Hold me close to you with a willing spirit that obeys whatever you say.” (Psalms 51: 12, the Passion Translation)

This is such a full-hearted release to God. It includes the realization and expectation that God is able to renew us and energize our lives at all times. There is a grateful recognition that by turning to God—willingly, humbly—all our needs are met.

We may, like the psalmist, feel we have lost our enthusiasm for life. We may feel beaten down by circumstances or by our own beliefs about our worth and prospects for life. We can know that these very times are those when we are ready for breakthroughs, new revelations that bring joy and uplift, understanding and peace.

God is ready to show us the Life that He made—the one that is in us and for us always. When we lean into His loving embrace and listen for His Word for us and about us, we feel safe and regain our footing.

We can cherish each new occasion to accept God’s presence and His purpose until our simple moments of awakening become full with a true passion for living, for loving, for God and His ongoing good.

“Treat other people exactly as you would like to be treated by them—this is the essence of all true religion.” (Matthew 7: 12, JB Phillips New Testament)

This is the Golden Rule. Jesus is teaching the vital importance of treating another as we would want to be treated.

This way of thinking and acting is not some tiny part of what we do and who we are. It is the very essence of all true religion. Without this agreement to behave toward one another in ways that are respectful and kind, understanding and receptive, we are not worshipping God at all, not honoring His very nature of goodness. We can’t be faithful to our Father and treat His children with disrespect, judgment, disdain.

How do you want to be treated? We must surely want to be seen for our best selves and for another to give us grace when we err, to comfort us when we are challenged, to uplift us when we are down, and to truly see us.

It takes conscious effort, but this Golden Rule works wonders for it is based on God’s Truth. As we treat others well, we are in alignment with God’s purpose, and this brings a sense of harmony and peace to ourselves and to our world as well.

“So now we draw near freely and boldly to where grace is enthroned, to receive mercy’s kiss and discover the grace we urgently need to strengthen us in our time of weakness.” (Hebrews 4: 16, the Passion Translation)

Let’s not be shy about receiving our kiss, coming in for that full embrace of divine Love. At those times when we feel the most weak and unworthy, we can willingly surrender to what we most need to regain strength and confidence. Grace.

This divine goodness, God’s merciful love, is ready to lead us out of despair and to renew our sense of ourselves and our lives. We can now draw near to God. We can do this freely and boldly. Let’s do our best to let go of self-pity and self-doubt and to be ready for our refreshing, ready to receive the comfort and assurance of God’s ever-presence.

There may feel like an urgency around our need for strength and support, especially in hard times. But this urgency is our opportunity—not for fear, but for faith. We don’t have to earn that kiss of mercy through desperate pleading or arguing. We can simply turn to where grace is enthroned—to our own hearts where God’s Truth resides—and so feel the power and the peace of Love’s glorious grace.

Daily Inspiration, April 20th, 2023

“Leave all your cares and anxieties at the feet of the Lord, and measureless grace will strengthen you.” (Psalms 55: 22, the Passion Translation)

This sounds like a wonderful trade! With humility and reverence, we leave with God the fears and burdens we may feel. In return for our release to Him, God grants us not only a little grace, but measureless grace. And why wouldn’t it be limitless, considering the Source and His infinitude, and the fullness of His Love for us?

As we willingly choose to relinquish our cares—our personal control over life—we feel the great gift of God’s wise and loving control over all. Our anxieties fall away in God’s certainty and protection, His Truth and affection. We are strengthened because we are no longer carrying the load. We are letting God do it. And to Him it is not a burden at all. It is only an occasion to show us even more of His infinite goodness, and an opportunity for us to grow in our own understanding of what is true and right and real.

What a relief to know that we can give up these heavy concerns; that we can only gain power and poise and peace by letting God be God—our loving and grace-filled Father-Mother-Life!

“If I flew on morning’s wings to the far western horizon, You’d find me in a minute—you’re already there waiting!” (Psalms 139: 9-10, the Message Bible)

This poetic assurance is both calming and uplifting. It sets us free to take on new adventures without fear, knowing that we will never be outside of God’s care, His loving presence.

We can know that when we are faced with challenges, feel fearful, like we are in darkness, God swiftly finds us. He comes to us right where we are, and His light shows us what is true—that God is greater than our fears and trials.

God’s Love is already waiting for us, even when we go far afield, veering from the best path for our lives. And He isn’t waiting on the other end to punish us or make us feel ashamed. He’s patiently ready to show us He has never stopped loving us, and that we are always at home in His heart, the Life that is Love.

God’s Love doesn’t wait for us to be in church or have all our thoughts in perfect order before He arrives to help us. His presence is immediate and His Love unconditional. He may come to us with His wisdom, or simply with His comfort. We can’t be lost from God or too far for Him to find us. In a minute. Now.

“For all that exists originates in Him, comes through Him, and is moving toward Him; so give Him the glory forever. Amen.” (Romans 11: 36, the Voice Translation)

God, good, the Spirit of Truth, is the Infinite All. The Creator brought the universe into being in all its grandeur and immensity.

And yet, God’s awesome power is an intimate part of our lives, the very substance of our individual being. His Life is our life, our very breath and heartbeat. His qualities make up our nature and we can no more be separated from God or from that pure identity than we can be separated from our own selves.

The activity of all true creation and all existence is purposeful. God—spiritual and full and flawless goodness—is the impetus and the effect of all that is. Nothing can veer off in a direction opposed to His design, for He is All and made all things to manifest His own glory.

We can recognize that we are full of God’s brilliance, God’s peace, God’s delight at all that He has made. Our lives are the active and accurate and amazing expression of God’s own eternal being, in this moment and all those to come.

Amen!
