“And his allowance was a continual allowance given him of the king, a daily rate for every day, all the days of his life.” (II Kings 25: 30)

We are continually being given our daily allowance, the substance of the King’s plenty and the natural consequence of His Love. The ruler and governor of our existence, the head of our household, is the divine Father-Mother, Who has the supply to give and the wisdom to distribute with care and righteousness.

Every day of our life we have our answers, our angels bearing the daily blessing, the need met. As a child receives his allowance from his loving parents, the amount that would assure right comfort and activity, so do we always. The divine Parent keeps the full inheritance intact for us, while we utilize what is right for today. He assures that we are always going to have our home with Him, and enough daily to work and to play, to give to others, and to rest in satisfaction and gratitude.

The daily rate is not meager or conditional. It is that which is plentiful and which feeds us sufficiently to move forward, to gain a greater sense of goodness, and to experience the true understanding that we live in the kingdom of Love, today, tomorrow, and forever.

“You command the situation if you understand that mortal existence is a state of self-deception and not the truth of being.” (Science and Health, page 403)

Take command. Be clear and confident and fearless and strong. The material situation which would attempt to get us caught up, confused, frustrated, ashamed, afraid, is not the truth of being. We don’t need to believe it, justify it, or fix it with human solutions.

We have control over things by recognizing the unreality of the presentation before us. We can refuse to be self-deceived, hypnotized by a flurry of symptoms or limits, and instead wake up to God’s presence and peace of Mind. We can awake from the mesmerism that would keep us analyzing mortal details instead of living the truth of spiritual being, the heaven that is always harmonious and loving.

Let’s not allow mortal existence to push us around, to tell us who we are and how we are and how life is or must be. We are not deceived because God is not deceived. He is the Creator and keeper of Life, of reality, and there is nothing about His creation that is mortal, fearsome, dangerous, dark. We can accept and utilize the dominion over the limited senses, and command the situation—go forth triumphantly, joyously, and gratefully!

“Convinced of the fruitlessness of their toil in the dark and wakened by their Master’s voice, they changed their methods, turned away from material things, and cast their net on the right side.” (Science and Health, page 35)

The disciples weren’t having a good day. They had lost hope and seemed destined to spend hour upon hour without catching a single fish. The elements seemed to be against them and their own gloominess kept them from seeing the ease of an answer and a blessing already at hand.

They needed the fish for nourishment and they needed the work to feel successful, for satisfaction, worth, and peace of mind. And with the voice of the Christ, they were given both. They were beckoned to stop their fruitless toil and change their methods. They needed to choose the right side, where spiritual Truth was abundant and where all their needs were already met. This fishing, this spiritual seeking, reaped the rewards of a net full of fish and a heart full of joy, expectation, and gratitude. They were ready to work, and to keep on listening.

We can hear this Christ voice as well, awakening us from the mesmerism of peering over the boat on the wrong side into the dark depths of emptiness. This clear and wise and practical voice of Truth is calling us to know the easy way, the way that does not confine itself to material methods, but opens itself to the instruction of God, to inspiration, to refreshment, to Life as it really is—nets full of ideas that feed bodies and spirits with all that saves and satisfies.

“I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” (John 12: 32)

Jesus’s ascension certainly drew mankind to follow his light and his message of Truth. His resurrection was an indication to all that he spoke truly about being the son of God, Spirit, Life. But this statement concerns each and every one of us. It is not simply about Jesus cheating death and getting attention and worship for it. It is about the way in which we each go about our lives.

When we lift our thought above earth, when we release our ego to the divine “I,” the one true Mind and Life, we are able to become a healing force in the world. It is not by our commiseration with matter and its constant barrage of limits and lies that we are a help to ourselves and to others. It is by a conscious recognition of who we really are and where we really dwell.

It is that conscientious acceptance of our oneness with God, our heavenly dwelling place, that which is clear and right and good, that we will draw others unto us, have an influence on thought and lives. We need to keep out of the tomb of deathly thinking, to be able to claim that healing perspective that is full of daylight and which breaks the gloom for us and for all. Jesus proved that Life is God–not fearful, not earthbound and doomed. This is our truth as well. So let us be grateful, joyous, buoyant, and bright with this irresistible light!

“Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.” (Isaiah 44: 6)

There has never been any God but our God, infinite good. There has never been and will never be another ruler, another Principle, another power or creator. The Father-Mother has always existed and we have always been His children. There have never been other gods vying for our obedience and affection. God declared Himself and His Word stands forever. He is One and All.

The Christ comes anew to redeem us, to announce this unchanging Principle of our Life. Daily we are reminded by this loving Savior, Truth, that we are indeed the children of God, and just as He has never stopped being God, we have never stopped being His beloved ones. We actively and necessarily express Him Who is All and in All. There is no God besides Him and no man besides the right and perfect one we are.

Rejoice and be glad. There is no other god. There is no alternative power calling itself person or matter or circumstance or time. There is no presence calling itself devil, evil, sin, disease, death. There is only one God, one ruler, one King, one presence, one power and His name is Love.

“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14: 15)

Our obedience to the law of God, to His loving rules for life, comes naturally with our love for Him. In proportion to our consciousness of God and His true nature–that which is worthy of adoration, devotion, fidelity, and faith–we are able to keep His commandments with a sense of ease and joy.

If we are loving the perfect spiritual good that is God; if we are acknowledging Him as our very own Father and Mother and True Love, we can’t help but want to be loyal to His word, to trust His laws to guide us and keep us safe and satisfied. Recognize this natural love of God, of Love, of Life in your hearts and minds, and gracefully and gratefully obey Him.

God’s commandments are truly beckonings into the very Life that is most like us, most right for us, most loving and freeing. His commandments are not restrictions. They are those laws that open our lives to its true potential. His commandments are not that which deprive us of freedom, but which alert us to freedom, all that is real and enduring and right.

Be true to God by being true to yourself, to that which Love caused you to be. Honor divine Love’s creative control, and follow His perfect way of infinite purpose, protection, potential and promise.

“Material sense does not unfold the facts of existence; but spiritual sense lifts human consciousness into eternal Truth.” (Science and Health, page 95)

The revelation of life as it truly is will never come through the five material senses. The senses can’t perceive infinite Spirit, or know the expansive presence of perfect Life and Love. We shouldn’t put faith in sense testimony to show us who we are, what we are, or how we are doing. Physical perception can’t tell us the Truth, for the Truth is spiritual.

The facts of existence come to us through our spiritual senses. This spiritual evidence is clear and right and unshakeable. The human limited thought can awaken to this spiritual awareness by turning to God, good, and away from error, matter, limitation. Each of us has been given a heart that already holds in it the Truth of Being, God’s perfect Love.

Eternal Truth is ours to claim, to see, and to feel. Our spiritual sense is always at the ready. We know when we are receiving this true Word about things because it feels good and it feels right. Spiritual sense is not jarring or disturbing. It is that which calms and assures, enlightens and settles, for it is God’s own voice to our receptive thought, His own caress to our willing souls. Material sense can’t take you home to Truth’s promise, but spiritual sense reveals that you are already there.

“Jesus never spoke of disease as dangerous or as difficult to heal.” (Science and Health, page 147)

Jesus is the best example we have of how to flawlessly heal every sickness that would attempt to antagonize man. His approach was the one that always worked, and our own healings would be better demonstrated by actively pursuing his way of curing. And our starting point in this is so important.

Jesus wasn’t mesmerized by the symptoms of the trouble or the material prognosis for recovery. He didn’t even take the time to acknowledge the various details of the disease that confronted him. He didn’t brood and worry and look at the data of success for the healing of the sickness before him. He didn’t analyze, nor did he fear the disease or the sin. Contagion never entered his mind, nor did the duration of the problem. It was never too late for healing.

Let’s do our best to clear our thought of the preconceived ideas about sickness and the details of the bodies various organs and functions. If it didn’t matter to Jesus, and he healed all things, so why should it matter to us? What did matter to Jesus and should matter to us is the Truth. It is not what matter tells us with all its lying limits, but what God says about our identity, our makeup, the diagnosis for our life (the promise of Life). Let’s start with the easy naturalness of perfection, and go about our prayer and demonstration with a readiness and confidence, knowing that healing is not difficult or complicated. It is natural, necessary, and now!

“Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.” (John 14: 17)

The material world doesn’t know you. Personal sense can’t describe you or define you. Human opinions don’t have a clue as to the glory of you, that true idea that makes up every aspect of your perfect nature, beloved of God and powerful to good works.

The spirit of Truth is that Christ-idea that is the true definition of man, of you as God caused you to be and kept you to be. The material senses have no way of knowing Spirit. They cannot grasp or demonstrate infinite Truth, Life, and Love. Your grandeur transcends matter’s depictions, but it isn’t distant or difficult to claim and know.

Your heart already knows God. Love dwells in you and remains there in spite of the world’s doubts and opposition to goodness. Be still and know Him. Know Life and Love and Truth not as something to strive for or that can be lost through time and circumstance. That which is spiritual has no limits and endures forever. The Truth of you is always with you, its silent assurances at hand. The Truth of you is always preserving you, uplifting you, saving you, and loving you.

Receive the gift of knowing your own majesty–right here, right now, and always!

Daily Inspiration, December 22nd

“Let us be faithful in pointing the way through Christ, as we understand it, but let us also be careful always to ‘judge righteous judgment,’ and never to condemn rashly.” (Science and Health, page 444)

We have a great gift to share. We have the understanding of God as All, as good, and as Love. We have been informed that we are all the sons of God, that because of this we are able to transcend material sense, and be set free to be free. We can’t hold this fact back or be timid about sharing the healing truth with others.

But, we must also be careful that we don’t presume that another is not naturally privy to the good news as he is hearing it. We have to be as ready to listen as to talk, to be receptive to others and their views, whether they seem to match ours or not. Every idea of God is precious. Each one has been given the truth inherently, is being attended to every moment by his Father-Mother, and so is discovering what is right and true for him. We need not claim responsibility for bringing another the Truth, or deciding the time and way that they must live and prove it.

We can also be discerners and not judgers. We can see beyond appearances and assumptions to the true, complete, good man that we are so excited to be coming to know. We should be thankful that every day we are being given the opportunity to recognize God’s man everywhere because that man is the only man there really is. Judging and condemning is not a part of our mission. Our mission is to love.
