Daily Inspiration, April 9th

“Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?” (Psalms 139: 7)

Take a moment and listen for the answer to these questions. Come to recognize that there will never be an occasion or circumstance where God isn’t present, with us right where we are. Because He is ever-present, we can never be too far away from Him, and there are no exceptions to this fact. We simply can’t hide from His eyes when He is all-seeing Mind. We can’t escape the infinite All-in-all.

And we should never want to. God is never going to banish us from Himself because of human ignorance or disobedience. We may turn our eyes from His grace by our belief that we have power apart from Him, but we will never leave His Mind; we are His very thoughts and His Mind would be incomplete without every idea His great wisdom conceived. He knows right where we are and just who we really are. This is our comfort, not our shame. He knows our goodness, our sweetness, our lovableness, and He wants us near Him.

Human love may leave us and we may leave it or lose it, but the divine Presence is always with you and in you. It constitutes your very life and being, so you are inseparable from it. This divine Love will always be with you, by your side and on your side. It is divine Life, so it is an active, living Presence, and it is divine Love, unconditional Love, so it will never exclude you or forget you.

Know and feel this Spirit, this divine nature, embracing and infusing your life. There is nowhere to hide and no reason to. You are right where you need to be and you are never alone.

“The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.” (Numbers 6: 24-26)

Who doesn’t need a good benediction? Isn’t a blessing such as this one accepted into our hearts as meant just for us, such a wonderful and healing thing to receive? Everything that this tender wish extends to us is honestly what God already and always is giving us.

Our mighty and tender God is always blessing you and keeping you. His face, His smile of approval and eyes that see you truly, is shining directly upon you. You are always face-to-face with the Truth of His Love. You can’t avoid this gaze of God and your own active, natural reflection of all the good that is in Him, in infinite Spirit–the Life that is pure goodness and completeness and joy.

God’s unwavering attention is His graceful graciousness. The benediction of His presence is our sweet release to all that is right and satisfying and full of love. His countenance lifted, His active glee at our being, is our guarantee of the good life, His Life. God is always looking at you and looking after you, with delight at doing it. Accept this blessing willingly. It is yours perpetually, and its promise and immediate reward is peace.

Daily Inspiration, April 2nd

“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (I Peter 5: 6-7)

Does it seem that every day we need this instruction again? It seems so easy to forget that our strength, our certainty, our provision, our success, our comfort is not dependent on a personal ability to keep it all together, to control our world and its varied variables. We are not in charge of life and responsible either for its achievements or for its failures.

Humility is our answer and God’s demand. He is Father. He is Mother. He is Governor and Keeper. He is Creator. He is the only Mind and the true Love. And He is goodness in action. We don’t worship other gods. We have learned that idols have no real power. So, we must give up the worship of our own egos. We must give up a belief that another god called “me” has the power to accomplish anything or fail to do so. Reliance on God alone shows us all that is clearly right and satisfying.

Cast your care upon the One who is care itself. Come before God with an undivided worship and trust. Let yourself be loved by Him. It is out of your hands and this is the solution to your every worry. God has the world. He requires its harmony. He is the infinite Caretaker. You can never be out of His sight or out of His hands. So willingly and joyfully humble yourselves under His might, and feel the triumph of real freedom and a glowing gratitude for this sweet and powerful release.

Daily Inspiration, March 28th

“The eternal Truth destroys what mortals seem to have learned from error, and man’s real existence as a child of God comes to light.” (Science and Health 288: 31-1)

Truth is always maintaining the facts of our origin and writing our beautiful life story. The perfect Word of God about our identity cancels out, erases, that wrong solution that we may have worked out humanly. Material circumstances of birth and growth and the human sense of life they present to us are not the real story, not our true history or a true harbinger of our future.

Man is a child of God. All that the human sense seems to have learned from error, the limited and faulty and discouraging material view, is lost in the recognition of the Truth. If we have a math problem we have been doing wrong for years and now realize the true answer and the reason why, we no longer need to factor in the wrong answer, nor would we want to. We just begin with the truth, the solution that really works, and erase the old without hesitation. We don’t cling to 2 + 2 = 5. We replace it with the truth we now realize and use that going forward.

The mistakes and miseries of human experience–the guilt and the shame and the blame and the frustration–do not make a mess of things, of God’s Life-design. You are still His idea. You are still the result of His perfect and peaceful law in operation. As the Truth comes to light that God is Love and the only and perpetual Source of all, we can no longer accept what we seem to have learned. It no longer rings true. It doesn’t help us at all today.

Don’t cling to the false and the unproductive. Start with the right premise and its proper result and go forth with praise, promise, prosperity, and peace!

Daily Inspiration, March 26th

“…when I awake, I am still with thee.” (Psalms 139: 18)

The night may seem long. We struggle with our understanding, our peace, our faith. The darkness of material sense and personal responsibility preoccupies our minds and weakens our bodies. We often feel alone, afraid, hopeless. The night of human experience can seem to dim the sunlight and lead us to apathetic days that drag on without a real sense of insight, energy, joy.

And yet this night does not really touch us. The day has always been ours and the dream of pain and limit just that—a dream. We can awake from this mesmeric state of thinking about ourselves as separate from God to find that He has never left our side. Even when we felt our faith falter and our thoughts and behavior slip from the straight and narrow, He has been with us all night long.

I recently heard a story attributed to the Cherokee Indian tribe. The tradition goes that their youth come into manhood by being led to a rock by their fathers and left there, blindfolded, to spend a night alone in the wilderness. All night long these young boys struggle with fear and the noises and threats of danger around them. They are afraid, but the transition to manhood through this secret ritual is essential, so they bear it, though likely with tears and a sense of shame in their own weakness. And when the morning comes and the light of the dawn signals the boy’s time to remove his blindfold, he is able to see the light again, a new day as a strong man of his tribe. And this is when he sees that sitting right next to him is his father. He has been there quietly all night long.

Our Father is always there protecting us even in our darkness. And He is there when we awake to the light, celebrating with us the promise of our new day, one which He Himself has prepared just for us and for which we are ready.

Daily Inspiration, March 21st

“Life and goodness are immortal. Let us then shape our views of existence into loveliness, freshness, and continuity, rather than into age and blight.” (Science and Health, page 246)

Don’t let yourself be duped. Life is good and eternal. The presentations of aging and deterioration are not our story. They shouldn’t be what we focus our thoughts and conversation upon. The belief in ugliness and loss and weakness should not captivate us and preoccupy us. We need to and can wake up to reality.

When we focus on doom and diminishment our days are clouded with limitation, fear, depression, discouragement. We experience the unnecessary darkness of belief, when the Truth is really full of light, inviting us forward into Life’s forever renewing and satisfying moments, hours, years. We need to get off the bandwagon of that expectation of decline and the gloomy mental and spoken conversations about it.

All that is good is immortal. God is our Life and His qualities are preserved forever. There is no spoiling of His substance, no wearing out, no wearying. Age is not relevant in the eternal now. We exist forever as God’s children. Nothing about us needs to be old, jaded, apathetic, vulnerable, depressed, resigned. Life is full and flourishing for all always. Life is God, and He is always at the point of magnificence. Keep thought open to the sweet surprise of a new day, a new sense of life and its perpetual promise, beauty, energy, and joy.

Daily Inspiration, March 19th

“Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:” (Jeremiah 32: 17)

Our loving Father-Mother allows no obstruction to His active presence. Nothing in the divine Life is without proper motion, function, activity. God is Spirit, and His presence is never stagnant or limited in its flow of perfect goodness. God is everywhere, and He is actively expressing His qualities in every place, announcing the full nature of His substance, His Love.

God created everything there is. All that is the heavenly real and all that appears as our earth is according to His design and subject to His government and His nature. The limited concept must yield to the limitless Mind of God. In God’s thought there is no impediment to perfect being and acting. There is nothing too hard or too deep-seeded or too stubborn or too difficult for God, for the cleansing grace of His overflowing Love.

His outstretched arm clobbers that wall of resistance with one swift blow of Truth. There is nothing within a material body or in material life that can withstand the power of divine Love and its activity. It necessarily and naturally dissolves all that seems settled, unyielding, and uncomfortably binding. God’s love requires and brings movement, mobility, release, flexibility, and momentum, and there is nothing Love cannot or would not do to show us our freedom and the progressive sweetness of our lives.

Daily Inspiration, March 14th

“Desire is prayer; and no loss can occur from trusting God with our desires, that they may be moulded and exalted before they take form in words and in deeds.” (Science and Health, page 1)

Yes, we can have what we want. We can have our heart’s desires. These genuine longings are God’s loving voice speaking within us, declaring His own intentions for us. And so they are also prayers because they affirm what He caused us to love and what He made for us to express.

We may think that what we truly want is a perfect set of human circumstances fitting some outline we have set out. But really our desire is to know and feel a perfect quality of peace, understanding, happiness, well-being. These are right aspirations and to pray rightly is to cherish our love for those qualities and leave God to show us the “how” of their revelation and activity in our thoughts and in our lives.

No loss will ever occur by leaving our yearnings to the One Who loves us best and knows our needs. God, the only Mind and Life, knows what will truly satisfy us. He sees beyond the limits of time and personal sense that we would place on things. He is conscious of the full measure of what our lives are about and what brings out the best for us and for others, in His good and perfect time, His ideal way. Trust divine Love to be loving. Leave your heart with God and He will never disappoint you. Pause for His inspiration. There is no need to rush. Your goodness will not be lost. It will be nurtured and made to blossom into exactly the bloom that you most love to see and to be and that most blesses the world with its beauty and aroma as well!

Daily Inspiration, March 11th

“He brought me forth also into a large place; He was delivering me because He was pleased with me and delighted in me.” (Psalms 19: 18, Amplified Bible)

God’s tender love for us brings us the very best He has. His approval and delight at the fact of our being delivers to us the greatest gift we could receive: the gift of His Life. This Life is never small or limited in any way. It does not find its contentment in one small place or situation, or through only one individual or relationship.

He brings us into a large place. Because of His Love, He reveals to us a large Life, one that is expansive and open and fresh and arable—good for planting and growing, perfect for development and movement and building. This abundant and fertile Life also has much room for others—for an embracing and gracious welcome to other ideas of God, whether they be individuals or new endeavors.

God’s absolute delight in you means that He remains with you. He demands your company. All the protecting and uplifting power He has is at hand and He preserves you just as you are, because He loves you just as you are. Our large place, our abundant Life, is always expanding before us, never diminishing. He establishes us in this grand home of His and He is always opening new doors in this mansion, new paths on His gorgeous property, and at every turn we will always find Him—the good Life that is safe, comfortable, yet invigorating and refreshing Love.

Daily Inspiration, March 7th

“Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God’s unerring direction and thus bring out harmony.” (Science and Health, page 424)

If we observe life around us with our material senses, we must admit that there seems to be a lot of randomness—accidents, weather disasters, unexpected deaths and acts of violence out of nowhere. The world can seem a very dangerous place and life in general to be completely unpredictable and often out of control.

To find our peace and to bring that consciousness of it to others is to take a different view of things, a spiritual one. God does not know or create or condone accidents. He doesn’t allow chance to sneak in on His perfect design and cause it to go out of balance, to lose its inherent foundation, the law of Love. We need to get our thoughts above the distracting and disturbing sense of randomness, and rest in what Mind knows about His creation—peace, harmony, unity, stability, control.

Allowing fear and even paranoia to overtake our thinking and our behavior does not bring healing. It only feeds mortal mind with more qualities of instability and uncertainty and confusion and attention. Clarity of mind comes with our trust of God’s Principle, abiding in what is sure and permanent and real, rather than in the nature of an elusive evil. We can take hold on what is firm and reliable, that which is not swayed by the winds of emotion or the winds of nature. God is keeping us safe. Know this and live with joyous expectation, not fear, ready to be surprised only by God’s right and timely revelation of His goodness and love.
