“You’re my place of quiet retreat, and your wraparound presence becomes my shield as I wrap myself in your Word!” (Psalms 119:114 the Passion Translation)

Stay peaceful. Remain calm. You are safe in this moment. You are safe in the Truth, God’s Word of Life and Love.

We can always find this quiet place, where we can retreat from the world and from the arguments of sense and material limitation, time and fear. We can shut off and shut out the chaos and confusion, and feel that blanketing, warm presence of Love and light around us.

We may be inundated at times with feelings of vulnerability, anger, disappointment, pain. It may seem difficult to ignore these aggressive attacks and to find quietness, peace.

But God’s presence is infinite. It wraps around us, embraces us, pulls us in, guards us. Even when those dark feelings feel strong and real, as we release to God, to good, to the fullness and presence of Love, the very Truth of our Life, those forceful suggestions dissolve. They simply can’t have a life where Love is. And Love is where you are—at all times, now, forever.

Let’s remember the Word of God and His perpetuating Love. Let’s listen for new inspiration, new interpretations of His wisdom that bring us light for this hour, supply for this need, release from our worries into the comfort of Christ.

“Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.” (Galatians 6: 4-5, the Message)

Take the time to reflect on who you really are and what that means for your life. God has given us all a purpose, one that is pleasing to Him, one which best utilizes the gifts He has given us.

When we look to God, we can daily discover more of what He would have us see and know and be. God—Spirit, Life, Mind—is revealing to us our true selfhood, and to be our most genuine selves requires that we listen. It requires humility. It requires respect and love for God and for one another.

We can achieve much when we sink ourselves into what God is inviting us to do today. When we commit to His good work, without analyzing it, qualifying it, or comparing it with others, we are successful and can find contentment.

And when we do succeed and progress, we can remember not to let it go to our heads. We can consciously praise God, thank Him for what He has led us to do and the qualities He has brought to light in us. We can choose in each moment to do what we are being called to do, with poise, purpose, and grace.

“Don’t hold back. Don’t be timid. Be strong! Be confident!” (Joshua 10:25, The Message)

We can enter into our days with confidence. We can walk into life with a feeling of power and strength. We can choose to live more freely, without fear or self-doubt, and make a positive impact on our world.

We mustn’t hold back! We have so much to give, and our gifts are so needed! As we trust more in God, good—more in the power of what is loving and right, than in our own personal egos—we can accomplish so much. We can humbly lean on Truth’s strength and feel uplifted, energized, sure of ourselves because we are sure of our Cause.

We can be bold, but not from a sense of arrogance or self-importance. We can recognize that our hearts are telling us what is good and right and needed, and that we can trust that this is Love, God, in us and with us. With God in us and encouraging us, there is no reason to be timid. There is no reason to hold back the light that is natural to us, that can both empower us and enlighten our way.

You are not a little mortal with no purpose or capacity, nothing to say and nothing to offer. You are the beloved of God, created to express His uncontainable Life, and to live large and free and with joy!

“…Jesus taught that the kingdom of God is intact, universal, and that man is pure and holy.” (Science and Health, p. 477)

Jesus’ teachings open up a beautiful world for us! These ideas that he both taught and proved through healing demonstrations, hold the keys to the kingdom for us today.

We can discover and utilize that key, unlock the cage that a material sense of life would put us in, and feel true freedom. Jesus came to show his followers and us today that heaven is here and whole. The state of being that is God-like—good, perfect, harmonious, spiritual, immortal, unified, peaceful, joyful—is intact and infinite, universal. We can heed Jesus’ instruction and utilize his proofs as a promise for today and a blueprint for tomorrow.

This kingdom of God is here and now. It is an awareness of God and of our oneness with Him—with Truth, with Love. We are, indeed, the very offspring of Love and Life. This is our true make-up, and we can’t deny or change who we are.

What we can do is believe. We can joyously, gratefully, eagerly, receive the good news that we are pure and holy, not flawed or doomed. We can accept our worthiness, live in accord with God’s law, and feel heaven’s light and harmony in this place called earth.

“A good man produces good things from his storeroom of good…” (Matthew 12:35, Holman Christian Standard Bible)

It surely is satisfying to be productive, to feel like we are making a contribution, creating something, meeting a need for ourselves and for others. We all have the ability to achieve, and as we work from a standpoint of good, with honorable motives, our work can’t fail to reflect that goodness.

To be that “good man” is to know ourselves rightly. It is to recognize that we are God’s ideas, made to express Him, to make His presence known by our own individual being and experience. We can do much good as we utilize what we already have.

We have a storeroom of good. This storeroom doesn’t consist of physical possessions or even personal ingenuity or educational achievements. Our well-stocked space is the abundance of God’s qualities which we keep at the ready, safe and cherished.

We can go to our pantry and draw out kindness, gentleness, lightness of spirit. We can go to the cupboard and find within a love for mankind, good humor, orderliness. We can open the door and see the light of inspiration flooding out, ready for us to receive and to utilize.

We have available all the things we need to produce good things, to live in accord with God, to feel whole and content, and to be the good men and women who we truly are.

“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” (John 3: 17)

Jesus came to share the Truth with us. He taught and proved what God was all about and what was real and right. He showed us the way to feel saved and whole, peaceful and happy, comforted and uplifted.

And at no time did Jesus’ message include judging or condemning the world, humanity. Instead of condemnation, the Christ was and is expressing Love toward mankind. The Truth has come to set us free, not lock us up with accusations of guilt or feelings of shame. God does not punish us. He loves us, and this love guides us out of wrongdoing and into what is right.

God’s Love, as the Christ so actively and perfectly revealed, washes us clean and opens our eyes to who we really are—innocent, good, full of light and joy. There is no condemnation from God for He would not condemn what He made.

The Christ saves us from a belief that we are judged or that judgement awaits us to the great realization that we are truly the sons and daughters of God. The Christ sets us free to claim that Truth and to live in accord with its sweet and saving message.

“This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalms 118: 24)

What a wonderful way to begin our day. We can choose to consciously acknowledge that this very day was created by God. This morning, we can rise and step into an experience that was designed by God and is controlled by Him.

God’s day is one that is made of His very substance, formed from His intention, and which includes His qualities in action. So, this day, our day, is one to rejoice in, for it contains peace and light, goodness and strength, inspiration and creativity, comfort, progress, and an abundance of new ideas and opportunities.

And we are free to be humbly grateful and glad in this day. We are free to stay in this moment, awakened to trust and expectation, without the need to predict and fear what is to come. Today is God’s day, which means it is not one that we are in charge of, nor one that is all about us. It is a dawning goodness formed of God’s loving intention, proceeding from His infinite, unlimited Mind.

This day is like God. It is full of Life, light, goodness, power, energy, originality, and pure and perfect Love—for you, for me, for all.

“Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you.” (Galatians 5: 7-8)

You are doing great! You really are! Keep up the footsteps in goodness and you will continue to progress. Don’t lose faith in yourself or in your convictions. That compulsion to give up on our values or to judge ourselves unworthy or incapable does not come from God. It doesn’t come from the One Who called you, Who knew you were ready to shine, to live, to succeed, to give.

It can feel easy to think that we’ve done enough and are tired of the race. We may feel that the challenges are too great for us or that it’s just easier to walk the path of worldly thinking, of negativity, of fear, of doubt, of guilt or blame. But these suggestions don’t come from God. They are not based in Truth. And you are greater than these discouraging and dark thoughts.

We can remember that on this course of growing in grace and Truth, we are not alone. We are not running on personal steam or wits. We are not reliant on human circumstances or other individuals. This good path we are on is God’s path. He is leading us, lifting us, guiding us. In fact, His Life and Love are our fuel, our inspiration, and our confidence.

Don’t give up the race. Do take the time to breathe and realize that each moment on this road gives us new views, new light, new discoveries, new reasons not only to continue, but to enjoy each sweet moment along the way.

“I would have you learn this great fact: that a life of doing right is the wisest life there is…the good man walks along in the ever-brightening light of God’s favor; the dawn gives way to morning splendor.” (Proverbs 4: 11, 18, Living Bible)

We can choose wisely. We can make it our purpose to live a life that is focused on good. Seeking to express God’s goodness to the best of our ability moment by moment, results in a worthy and wonderful life.

For when we walk in the light, as the light, we continue to see more of life revealed. Truth guides us forward, and instead of an experience that tapers off and feels small and dark, our pure hearts and good motives expand our life before us, open us up to wonderful new things and new opportunities to give, to learn, to love.

At any moment, we can choose this wise course. We can decide to challenge the allure of evil, unkindness, selfishness, materialism, fear, and instead walk in God’s intention. We can let in the light and allow it to glow more fully with each humble release to Love, each moment of willingness to follow God’s guidance and to walk along the ever-brightening, never-dimming, light of God’s favor.

“Gladness to leave the false landmarks and joy to see them disappear, — this disposition helps to precipitate the ultimate harmony.” (Science and Health, p. 324)

To feel true harmony in our lives can mean releasing old attachments. We may need to leave our human past behind, with its various landmarks—those points in time and in experience that seem to make a mark on our lives.

We can cling to a past vision of self and of circumstance and bring them into today, using them as reasons for our behavior and choices going forward. We can grow attached to our fears and allow memories to loom large in our present moment. These beliefs can often stymie our growth or limit our opportunities to live more broadly and more freely.

But we have a choice to let go of those landmarks that are false—that are not accurate and reliable guides for our progress. A willingness to leave the past behind and to stop relying on beliefs that are not aiding us on our way, helps us to discover this available harmony and vitality.

And we can be so glad to do this! For when we move forward, with fresh and childlike eagerness and humility, there is freedom and joy to be found. Life looks new and we are ready to be new in it!
