“Before you do anything, put your trust totally in God and not in yourself. Then every plan you make will succeed.” (Proverbs 16:3, the Passion Translation)

Pause before you rush forward. Take a moment, before you do anything, for that most vital action: trust.

Consciously putting our faith, our total trust in God rather than ourselves, reveals the right way, the best way, the most productive path to follow. Our plans succeed and they aren’t fraught with fear or force, willfulness or self-doubt. Leaning on and listening to God brings the divine wisdom to bear on our day and leads us progressively as well as lovingly.

Our plans are more likely to succeed when we align them with God. For we belong to God, and His purpose for us is the one which suits us and bears the most fruit. It also expresses His intention—to show forth goodness, light, and love, just as He would have us uniquely do.

We don’t lose ourselves in this total trust. We find a freedom and agility, unexpected capacity and strength, and see what is truly possible to us. Reliance on God brings out qualities within that exceed our expectations, surprise and delight us, and bring us not only success but a real sense of contentment as well.
