“Now I am happy, not because you had such sorrow, but because your sorrow led you to repent. For you were sorry in a godly way, and so you were not hurt by us in any way. For having sorrow in a godly way results in repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regrets.” (II Corinthians 7: 9-10, International Standard Version)
Repentance is healing. It renews us, restores any sense of lost innocence. It leads us to our natural freedom, with the bonus of wisdom, humility, understanding, and strength.
We all go through trials of our faith. We find ourselves making mistakes, being less than we would want to be. This is growth. We are all children learning what is right, sometimes through trials, sorrows, and missteps.
But as we willingly repent—change our thought through an awakening to Truth, to God, good—we are able to move forward. We leave behind the wrong way of thinking, for a purer perspective, one that is more sincere, meaningful, and restorative.
Washed in God’s Love, we have no regrets, for all that has come before has only led us to know better our unbreakable oneness with our Father-Mother—a connection that has no blame, no shame, no condemnation.
We can gratefully rejoice in the repentance that saves us each day and leads us to even more fully feel Love’s ever-present embrace.
