“Let my passion for life be restored, tasting joy in every breakthrough you bring to me. Hold me close to you with a willing spirit that obeys whatever you say.” (Psalms 51: 12, the Passion Translation)

This is such a full-hearted release to God. It includes the realization and expectation that God is able to renew us and energize our lives at all times. There is a grateful recognition that by turning to God—willingly, humbly—all our needs are met.

We may, like the psalmist, feel we have lost our enthusiasm for life. We may feel beaten down by circumstances or by our own beliefs about our worth and prospects for life. We can know that these very times are those when we are ready for breakthroughs, new revelations that bring joy and uplift, understanding and peace.

God is ready to show us the Life that He made—the one that is in us and for us always. When we lean into His loving embrace and listen for His Word for us and about us, we feel safe and regain our footing.

We can cherish each new occasion to accept God’s presence and His purpose until our simple moments of awakening become full with a true passion for living, for loving, for God and His ongoing good.
