“But when you demonstrate generosity, do it with pure motives and without drawing attention to yourself. Give secretly and your Father, who sees all you do, will reward you openly.” (Matthew 6: 3-4, the Passion Translation)

True generosity comes from a genuine motive of goodness and care. It is a quality of God and so comes from a standpoint of abundance. No loss is felt and the willingness to give is inspired and heartfelt.

This giving—whether it be of supply and substance or of our varied gifts and expressions of love—is not about being seen and acknowledged. When we share what we have with selfless intentions, our real and wonderful reward is in seeing the difference our generosity has made on another, not in what it does for ourselves.

So, we receive a blessing in the joy and the gratefulness of another, whether expressed directly toward us or not. And God continues to reward us with His Love and His own gifts because we are truly aligned with His own purpose.

We feel richly blessed because God is pleased by our quiet generosity. This awareness of His approval and Love reveals plentiful good and satisfaction in our lives and an eagerness to share even more.
