“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” (I Peter 4: 10, New Living Translation)

God’s qualities are infinite. He expresses them in very specific and powerful ways. These are the gifts of His Love to us. We prove His goodness and presence through our spiritual endowments.

Each of us has these special abilities. They may be shared through human actions, but their true character is spiritual, and their Source is God, Almighty Love. We may be blessed with tender hearts full of natural compassion and understanding. We may be unfailingly honest or have an innate and uncompromising integrity.

Some of us may have a gentle nature, be comforters, have wisdom, be strong in difficult circumstances. We may be good guides at dark times or able to think and act quickly in situations when others might panic.

The diverse abundance of these gifts is as infinite as God, and our use of them comes with His power behind it. Let’s acknowledge that we do, necessarily, have such wonderful gifts (and more to discover) and use them to serve one another. This honors God, the Giver, and perpetuates His very good design for His beloved, harmonious creation.
