“Working and praying with true motives, your Father will open the way.” (Science and Health, p. 326)

Let’s be assured that we can advance in our lives without pushing and forcing things. We can trust that even if we aren’t sure what the next step must be, or if we feel too weary to trudge on, God will open the way for us—naturally, rightly, timely.

Our job is not to hold onto some grand ambition and look for material methods to get there, constantly judging ourselves or comparing to others. What we must and can do is to work along, moment by moment, at what it comes to us to do. We can use the gifts we have and the wisdom at hand, to be active in good thoughts and good actions.

The primary thing is our motive. If we look to our intentions and see in them a right desire to do good, or to grow in our understanding, or to achieve something meaningful and helpful, we can trust that our Father will show us the way. If we do what we do with love, and pray for guidance and with gratitude, we will find ourselves blessing others and feeling blessed ourselves.

And this blessing is more than human accomplishment. It is a feeling of worth, confidence, and satisfaction not only in some end result, but in the progressive journey itself.
