“Meekness and charity have divine authority.” (Science and Health, page 270)

There is a power in humble patience and gentleness. There is strength in love, in kindness, in goodness to others.

The authority that enforces these qualities is divine. God’s government is almighty. His control is certain and sound and omnipotent. And this law of God isn’t full of bluster and bravado. It doesn’t prove its righteousness through scare tactics, punishment, ego, or selfishness.

God is Love and so as we express this compassion, we are supported in our words and works. We come with God’s army of angels to assure that we are successful, helpful, and provided for. As we discover the joy of meekness—of yielding up a personal sense of ourselves with its need to impress—we feel a true power. Our purity allows God’s light to shine through us with its full intensity, and we can truly accomplish good for others.

And this humble affection that Jesus so beautifully expressed, lifts the burden off of self and lays it at the feet of Love. God’s law is responsible, and it is always up to the job.

Joyously claim and express your natural meekness and charity. It is your divine right and a sacred superpower in the world!
