Daily Inspiration, March 22nd

“As for the rich in this present world, instruct them not to be conceited and arrogant, nor to set their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly and ceaselessly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.” (I Timothy 6: 17, Amplified Bible)

Seeing wealth or seeking it as our solution, leads us astray. It keeps us from really knowing the sustaining and reliable goodness that comes from God. As we look to material riches and to our own human capacity to gain these, we leave out God and His loving and right provision. And so, we limit our treasures by looking to dollars and cents as our supply and our sustenance, not to mention our ultimate goal.

Abundance is spiritual. True prosperity is that which includes an enduring feeling of Love, of Life, of joy, as well as of security and freedom. God’s provision is rich in every needful thing for our use and for our pleasure, our contentment, our peace.

To have much and to feel our bank account makes us more special than another; to believe that we have heaven through accumulated matter, is to build on fallible and variable foundations. Rather, we gain the lasting and satisfying richness as we are humbly receptive to the glorious gifts of God and His boundless, forthcoming goodness. A heavenly certainty comes by realizing and accepting that our worthiness is not based in matter and its measures, but in God and His eternal Truth about one and all.
