“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” (Ephesians 4: 31-32, New International Version)
We were not made to be full of hate and anger. God did not make us to fight with one another and be unkind. Our loving Father-Mother gave us the Christ—a message of Love and oneness and goodness—because this Truth will set us free.
Answer gratefully this call to compassion and forgiveness. It is the most healthy and natural way to be. We not only honor God when we express His love in our lives, we also settle into our own well-being. God formed us out of His Love and this Love doesn’t hold on to bitterness or thrive on battle and argument. We are most at peace and true to ourselves when we yield to the Lover within us.
Of course, it isn’t always easy to see past others’ misdeeds or accusations. But to forgive is not merely some nice ideal. It is our own salvation, prepared for us. And this compassion, this desire to forgive ignorance (for evil and hate is always truly ignorance, isn’t it?), comes from within our own hearts. It is the Christ-light, showing us who we truly are—the sons and daughters of infinite Love, living in accord with our true nature, making peace, and feeling peaceful ourselves.
