Daily Inspiration, January 12th

calmness

“Our God says, ‘Calm down, and learn that I am God!’” (Psalms 46: 10, Contemporary English Version)

Listen to God. He knows what is right and healing. Take this directive to heart without delay. It is not merely a nice request to chill out. It is God’s own voice telling us how to feel right, happy, and at peace. It is His demand for us to know Him.

Because knowing God means knowing what is true. It means fearless freedom. It means light to the darkness; wholeness instead of brokenness, lack, and loss; love rather than hate, resentment, anger; wisdom and clarity replacing doubts and ignorance and confusion.

Calm down. Consciously still yourself. This stillness is action. It is standing in receptivity and letting Truth dawn on your thought. Fretting and analyzing as well as rushing about pressured about everything, doesn’t allow us to hear and see reality. The blur of the world’s suggestions and mortal thoughts and opinions obscure the very thing that will bring us certainty and peace.

And that is knowing that God is God. It is a recognition that God is Truth to this moment. It is an awareness that He is Love to this moment, Life to this moment, and the very Soul of this moment. This calmness is not inaction. It is yielding. It is letting the sun come up, basking in its warmth and freshness, and receiving and cherishing the light it brings to our lives and to the lives of others as well.
