“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” (Colossians 2: 8)
Keep your eyes open and your mind alert. The allure of the world’s false ideals and methods can trick even the most faithful followers of goodness and Truth. Don’t let the opinions of others or the often lower expectations of the world drag you down from your summit of peace and love.
The Christ declares and demonstrates the Truth. Be loyal to that inspired and honest and proven word of Life and Love, of goodness and peace. Keep on loving what you love and believing what you believe. The opposition may appear bold and powerful, but that doesn’t make it right or real.
Look to God to measure your actions and thoughts, and stay with the inspiration you receive. You don’t need to run your ideas by the world to see if it agrees. Why lower yourself to a standard set by mortal mind, that mind that is all about limitation, fear, disappointment? Why settle for an unsatisfying ideal that opposes reality, the Truth that is pure goodness and Love?
The traditions of men—those expectations based on arbitrary models that change from day to day and from culture to culture—should not concern us or confine us. We are not in a box of random and often unkind ideas. We express Life and Love. Know who you are and behave in accord with that purity, peace, and love. Don’t let the world change you. You change the world.
