Daily Inspiration, January 24th

“You were making splendid progress; who put you off the course you had set for the truth? That sort of ‘persuasion’ does not come from the one who is calling you.” (Galatians 5: 7-8, JB Phillips translation)

Don’t be so quick to give up. Don’t jump off the train just when you are getting somewhere. Material circumstances and personal sense will try to make this journey a difficult one, perhaps not worth the effort, or paint this spiritual pursuit as some aspiration we are simply not good enough to achieve.

Hogwash. Progress is God’s law and just because you may be challenged on the way doesn’t mean you aren’t winning, advancing, growing and doing tremendous good for others and yourself along the way. Liken it to taking a class. As we achieve mastery of the subject, the assignments may become more difficult. It is because we now have the knowledge, wisdom, and experience with the ideas to be able to take on these harder lessons and get even clearer on what we know and why it matters so much.

Those voices of discouragement and apathy and doubt are not the voice of God. They are not valid advisors. Who has put you off course? It is the mortal mind and its desire to stay complacent in matter and its limits rather than to continue to advance out of those limits and into Soul’s infinite promise for Life. God is always calling you forward, onward, and He always will. Listen. You are making splendid progress, and you are ready for the next step, with God, up to where the view is even broader, clearer, brighter, and more beautiful than before.

I love this, and the Phillips translation. Also like the Hogwash, so Texan! That word says it all! Leaves no doubt or question, not wishy washy, tentative or timid! Thanks once again for hitting the target so precisely.

Thank you, Pat. For some reason God gave me “hogwash!” and it sure seemed to say what I meant, so I went with it! He’s so great with words. I do like to take Him at His Word! I agree about the Phillips translation. There is a directness as well as a beauty in much of his version of the New Testament which can be very inspiring.

What I love about ‘hogwash’ is the dominion and upper hand attitude it expresses to error. Who’s in charge here? I love that. But I also love the poetry of your writing Laura dear. Like this phrase “…continue to advance….into Soul’s infinite promise for Life.” It brought to mind, Churchill’s famous speech, ‘Never give up, we will never give up…!’ We love your posts, look forward to them each week, but more importantly we cherish your love and your depth…….hugs, always…..
