Daily Inspiration, November 3rd

“You are the light of the world. You cannot hide a city that has been built upon a mountain.” (Matthew 5: 14, Aramaic Bible in Plain English)

We are made to share our light. This light is that goodness and love that God has given us; the reflection of Truth’s presence and power. Such brightness can’t really be hidden, and yet at times we try to do just that. We choose to question our capacity to have a meaningful impact on others and instead shadow our own light in self-doubt and fear and personal sense.

But this city, this great ideal that God expresses through you, is a powerful beacon and sanctuary. Its purpose can’t be denied. There is no way that something so large and lovely and true as God’s own intention of Love, can be kept under wraps.

It is situated on a mountain. It stands upon a rock that puts it above the earth and its dark beliefs. When we stand upon the mountain—the recognition that our light and our power are founded in God, the great I AM, the infinite Source—we are able to accomplish much and find the true confidence to share that healing glow with all.

You are a living witness to God’s qualities. You have an abundant gift to give to the world simply by remembering who you are as God’s own image, His powerful and necessary expression of Truth, Life, and Love.

Don’t hide your radiance or qualify it. Get on that mountain and shine!

“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” (II Timothy 1: 7, New International Version)

You may believe you were born lacking in certain things. You may have come to buy that your capacities are limited and that you can’t achieve great things.

But a belief about yourself isn’t Truth. God gave us our true identity. He filled us up with all the qualities for success and made them easily accessible to us. You were built to shine with a powerful light and to share that easily, freely, and with impact.

You were made with love in your heart and soul, and with an innate awareness of God’s Love for you. You were not made to degrade yourself or others, but to feel that rich and right desire to love just as God loves you.

And you were designed to be obedient to God’s plan for you and for all. His supreme control is reflected in your ability to be faithful to goodness, to follow a higher path, to be organized and clear and progressive, and to be unafraid. You have been bestowed, naturally, with all that guarantees success.

This achievement is Spirit’s gift, not material attainment or demonstration. It comes of God, the everlasting Presence, so these wonderful attributes are always available to claim, each day, without conditions upon them.

You are powerful, loving, and obedient to God. You are fearlessly ready to do great things and to do them with gratitude and joy!

“I am with you every day, even unto the end of time.” (Matthew 28: 20, Aramaic Bible in Plain English)

Jesus’s comforting words are meant just for us. These intimate words to his disciples following his resurrection are the ultimate message for us all.

We will never have a day without the Christ. There is not a single moment where we are not being accompanied, guided, protected, inspired by the presence of the Comforter. This Truth of our Life, straight from God’s own heart of Love, is always near.

Today we walk in grace. Today we have the Christ—the conscious and powerful Truth of our oneness with God. This loving one is always just what we need in just the way we need it. God’s Truth is precise and healing. It is tenderness. It is strength. It is insight. It is awakening. It is beauty and joy at hand and made real for us. Each moment. Today and until the end of time.

“Consider it nothing but joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials. Be assured that the testing of your faith [through experience] produces endurance [leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace].” (James 1: 2-3, Amplified Bible)

Don’t let the challenges of life cause you to feel you are failing or losing. Trials will come to everyone in human experience. These are occasions to put into practice what we are learning of God and to gain an even greater understanding.

And this heightened awareness of God in all circumstances, and turning to Him for solutions, reveals strength and patience and maturity in us. As we are humbled to listen and lean on God’s Love, to give up personal control and ego, and to be led into fresh views and renewed opportunities, we are indeed winning.

It is our joy, in fact, to gain through overcoming. For not only can we say truthfully that we have had a victory, have beat the enemy back through our endurance and wisdom; but we also through each testing become more practiced at recognizing the lie when it comes to tempt us into its trap, and demonstrating the Truth that defeats it.

The added bonus is that we gain a greater view of God’s presence and power and know exactly why it is the solution to all. Divine Love is fully appreciated, not taken for granted. We know the value of what we have, and we are less willing to forget it in times of trouble and even in times of peace and joy.

“May the God who inspires men to endure, and gives them a Father’s care, give you a mind united towards one another because of your common loyalty to Jesus Christ. And then, as one man, you will sing from the heart the praises of God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 15: 5-6, JB Phillips New Testament)

We can take hold of this blessing and begin the joyous song together!

Our Father-Mother-God is faithfully protecting us as He guides us forward with new insight, inspiration, conscious awareness of Life as it truly is. His Christ-message—that powerful and enduring love-note to His children—has been bestowed on us. We have been shown the facts of our birthright and our immortality.

God has revealed that we are His own children, the ideas of His own perfect Mind, conceived of Love, and held perpetually in His Life. This great news is our common theme, and our cause for joint celebration. We are loyal to Christ, to the consciousness of spiritual being, our eternal guarantee of well-being, peace, and life.

So let us sing praises to God as one man—as the unified voice of God’s ideal. Let’s come together in natural unison and celebrate the universal song of Life and Love that God Himself has written and released to the world!

“Self-forgetfulness, purity, and affection are constant prayers.” (Science and Health, page 15)

Connecting with God in active prayer isn’t exclusively quiet communion and thoughts and words expressed to God. There are ways to pray in every moment, in the midst of our experiences, and to more clearly and effectively recognize that oneness with Him on the fly, so to speak.

A constant prayer is the way in which we live. You are a living prayer as you feel and express that true connection with God, good, Love. The realization of the three aspects in the quote naturally bring us into harmony with God and into an awareness of His goodness for us and for all.

With self-forgetfulness, we give up the false sense of a personal self out on our own, disconnected from the divine One. Additionally, we let go of selfishness and in doing so see how much we have to give. We feel a sense of the unity that blesses all.

Purity is that condition of being free of anything that pollutes or contaminates. We can cleanse ourselves from any impurity by being aware of those aspects of our thinking and behavior that don’t fully honor good and that tend to cloud our clarity and hide our loveliness. When we claim our innocence and live that purity that is truly ours, we are in a state of receptive prayer, for we are free of impediments to hearing and feeling God’s presence.

And true affection is a constant prayer as well. It is being Love and expressing it toward God’s creation. It is loving Love and loving to love, and this aligns us with God in every way—it is a prayer that honors God for the Love that He is, and shares it with others generously as well.

“Faith is higher and more spiritual than belief. It is a chrysalis state of human thought, in which spiritual evidence, contradicting the testimony of material sense, begins to appear, and Truth, the ever-present, is becoming understood.” (Science and Health, page 297)

Faith is a beautiful thing. It is the entryway to a heavenly perspective, the unfurling of wondrous reality in the place of limits, doubts, fears, discord.

This faith is ours to claim and feel. Give yourself permission to take your belief in Truth, God, good, to an even more spiritual level. Allow yourself to bask in that protected space of transformation, that chrysalis thought which is ready to be convinced that there is something better than a small and challenging life. Let that faith in Love, the power of goodness, and in yourself as God’s own child and image, settle into conviction.

This sweet experience of simple childlike trust, without the need to argue, instructs us into a better understanding of Life as it really is. We begin to see what seem like miracles to the faithless human sense, but which only feel just right and natural from our higher standpoint.

Truth is becoming understood. Faith guides us there. You are not a doubter or a skeptic. You have faith because you are everything God made you to be—wise, loving, lovable, perceptive, and a willing receiver of God’s own grace lovingly revealed.

“This is the command as you have heard it from the beginning: you must walk in love.” (II John 1: 6, Holman Christian Standard Bible)

We were made to love. We were designed at the start to be the very evidence of God’s presence. God is Love. So our nature and our purpose is that of Love. Our individual expression of this spiritual affection may be unique and take on different forms in the day to day human experience, but it must still be Love’s presence walking this earth.

When we disassociate from divine Love or deny its presence in us or towards us, we essentially go against our true nature. We have forgotten who we are and Who God is. We have allowed something less than Love to guide us, to fill us up, to motivate us. When we aren’t walking in Love, we aren’t really getting anywhere we need to go. We may be physically moving or advancing according to some human measure of success, but we are not gaining the true riches of Life; we are not becoming acquainted with our own real value and beauty.

The original command at our very origin was to be like God. We were created as the image of the Life that is Love. Own up. Be who you are. Don’t forget the Truth that was written within you at the start. Walk in Love. Be Love.

Discovering Your Soul’s Desire

dancingbeach

What does your soul say to you? Do you even hear it?

If there were no judgment on your actions or intentions, if the mind didn’t wander into the past or jump into the future questioning what could go wrong, you might begin to hear the voice of your soul clamoring for attention and for your permission to unleash its power. Your soul knows you best, it is the truest part of you, and what it’ll reveal to you if you allow it and listen for it (even if it takes a while) is an answer that will give you both a sense of peace and a feeling of enthusiasm. Your soul is a life force, so it seeks to energize you. Your soul is also a love-force, so it seeks to satisfy you. Your soul is not like anyone else’s, but it is in every way perfect.

Your soul is also undaunted and relentless. It’ll keep kicking you to listen and respond until you finally RSVP your definitive “yes, I will be there. I will show up for this awesome event, my soul’s celebration of its purpose.”

When life feels uncomfortable, limiting, depressing, unsatisfying, abrasive, empty, it is your soul that won’t let you stay there. It is that knowing place within that won’t allow you to remain in a small or ugly space and just live with it. Your soul will make darn sure you don’t get too comfortable with your discomfort. The chafing that happens in life, those fires we pass through, can be a clear and powerful sign that we are not at one with our soul. Maybe we are compromising. Perhaps we are selling our lives short. But blessedly, our soul is powerful enough and persistent enough that it won’t let that happen! God bless your soul!

Let me tell you a little more about this inner being that I am calling your soul. It is God’s changeless Truth about you. It is your home base. It is the core of your being as you were created to be. It is the Life within you that answers to your name only. You can’t escape your soul. It is what makes you you.

Our soul gets drowned out by the noise of personal sense and circumstance, opinions, and judgment. The voice of our singing soul is rejected as too impossibly good and right, so much so that it has no relevance in reality to us. It is rejected by the rationalizations of an irrational mind—the one that is attuned to fears, doubts, history, comparisons and opinions, but not to the Truth or to Love. That limited and limiting mind has become the accepted one, the acknowledged source of information, but that doesn’t mean it is wise, or powerful, or even helpful.

Let me make one crucial thing very clear. Your soul is not a dreamer. Your soul is a realist. Your soul not only knows what is right and powerful and perfect for you, your soul also knows what is absolutely possible, achievable. Your soul is not simply telling you what you want to hear (but not always believe) but is telling you what you need  to know to be what is actually the easiest and most reasonable and fully justified thing in the world—you!

You are poetry and power. Your life is absolutely begging you (and so am I!) to live in Truth, to live the poetic and powerful life that suits you. Yours is a life that is beautiful and inspiring and also impactful, energized, and world-changing!

Okay. So take a few minutes here and answer these questions for yourself: If there was no judgment on me or on my desires, what would make me feel the most free and happy, eager and excited? What calls to me for discovery and exploration? What, when I think of it, gives me the greatest feeling of peace within?

You may or may not have a clear picture, but you probably have some ideas. Nurture those and keep on listening, in your own way and time, and heed the answers. They may be specific aspirations in work or life, or they may be qualities or ideals that resonate with your idea of joy and satisfaction. Write these down as a real and reachable intention, not as a fiction. Look at them and recognize their validity. Keep them private and cherished. And remember that this awakening vision is between you and your soul, and you can trust your soul more than you can trust people’s well-meaning opinions.  Your soul is your deepest self. Your soul wants you to shine. Your soul knows you best and loves you for what it knows.

Honor your inspired dream with your willingness to give it the time of day.

So, hearing our soul isn’t that hard, but it isn’t always that easy either. There’s a lot of static that gets in the way. I’m going to give you a little heads-up on some common “noisemakers” that tend to keep us from hearing the clear and true song of our soul. Being alert about these, we can actively change the station from that garbage so we can hear the music of our hearts telling us what is both right for us and entirely reasonable to achieve.

So, here are 5 common noisemakers:

  1. Past history and past experiences. We tend to build a frame of reference around what’s happened in our lives before. The arguments that prevent us from moving forward can be loud in our head, or even from others, reminding us how something was, how we are, and why there’s no point in listening to our soul. We know how it will end up. When you recognize those thoughts and memories causing you to disbelieve, wake up to that trickery. The big and powerful question here to that little devil is, “Just because it happened before, why must it happen again?” And along with that, I would ask this question: “What about me now makes this idea, vision, opportunity different and possible?
  1. Judgment of the idea and mostly judgment of ourselves. Self-criticism is a screamer. It drowns out peace and joy and hides our own beauty from us along with our natural potential for success. The critic in you needs to be shut down, and your inner advocate, best friend and biggest fan, needs to speak up for you. You do have within you that voice of confidence and trust. This inner voice is God’s Truth about you, and if you silence the critic with lovingkindness to yourself, that voice announcing your own worthiness and brilliance will be heard. And with it, naturally, comes the voice of your soul inviting you to make the best use of your worthiness and come and get all the good that is rightfully yours.
  1. Comparisons. Your life is your You are you. Looking at another’s experience is limiting and it so deprives you of the gift of experiencing your life—the one that truly suits you and pleases you. If you are looking over there at what so and so got and trying to achieve that, you are missing the very precise gift the universe has given you, tailor-made to satisfy you and to bless the world, too. Your good is not only your good, it is your GREAT!
  1. Habitual thinking. I call this getting comfortable with our discomfort. We often get used to living with less, settling for a limited amount of good, thinking conditionally and just going about life because it isn’t that bad, but, likewise, it isn’t that good either. The familiar may be the known, but is it the inspiring? And, mostly, is it really big enough for you? The best way to break this lulling white noise is to entice us with the idea of experiencing other options. It helps at times to recall a time when you made a change, in spite of resistance to it, and found it to be truly liberating, right and successful.
  1. Ask yourself if there is some sense of fear banging around in your head—fear of change, failure, mistake. I invite you to think about how much good that fear is actually doing you. How is it working for you to stay fixed on expectation of mistakes and failure and meanwhile failing, maybe, at joy? Isn’t it worth it to eagerly explore your own power and to recognize that while truly you cannot fail, you may be rejecting an opportunity, an invitation with your name on it, to succeed?

Let’s give ourselves unconditional permission to fearlessly shine. Let’s recognize that our most genuine self is the one that is naturally awesome. It is your living, loving soul and it sustains the Truth. Own it. Do whatever it takes to continue to acknowledge your soul’s voice for you and to shut up that noise that would silence that true description of you and its promise for your life.

Live poetically and powerfully. Start today. And let me know if I can help in any way.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of this article where we’ll explore 5 Ways to Turn Up the Volume on Your Inner Voice and Its Wonderful Promises.

Daily Inspiration, October 6th

“Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise].” (Colossians 3: 15, Amplified Bible)

Doesn’t this sound like a much more peaceful way to make decisions and live our lives? What would our lives really look like if we took a gentle pause to allow that peace of Christ, that inner calm, to take the lead?

Paul tells us in this verse that we are not reaching out of ourselves for this guidance or asking others to advise or even calm us. There is no striving here, no strain to gain inspiration, comfort, wisdom. It is about letting. This blessing reminds us lovingly to allow that peace already within to settle us and lead us rightly.

Anything that comes up in our lives is truly best settled from this standpoint. A mind all churned up with choices, concerns, regrets, and fears, can’t see clearly or decide rationally. On the other hand, when we rest in a reliance on God, the divine Mind, knowing His presence with us and in us, we have clarity. The peace that this consciousness of Love brings, expands the vision, dissolves confusion, and reveals our safety in God and with it, the next and natural step forward with Him.

We all have this “inner calm” because we all do walk daily with God. He is with each one of us at all times. We can accept this, lean on it, relax into this awareness, and accept the true control by God that brings freedom for His children, you and me.
