“Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which ties everything together in unity.” (Colossians 3:14, International Standard Version)

As we prepare for each day, let’s not forget the most important detail. We certainly want to wake up to life with a real sense of purpose and expectation. It helps for us to release the burden of worry and fear to a trust in God Who can show us the right and easier way, naturally, each hour.

But as we pull ourselves together with the usual tasks to head out the door or into our day, let’s not forget the most essential thing: to clothe ourselves with love. Let’s consciously feel and cherish the love the God has given us. Let’s hold it to us, carry it in our hearts, and then let’s wear that love on our sleeve, so to speak.

We don’t need to be shy about making the love in our hearts known in our world. As we recognize God’s presence with us, and the fact of His love for all of us, we experience and bear witness to a perfect unity. Love is active in every place. As we express this love instead of hate, resentment, fear, we see things harmonize, naturally.

Love unites. Anything unlike love divides. Let’s carry love with us everywhere we go, with a conscious intention. Let’s play our active and satisfying part in expressing this divine affection and in seeing the unity of God’s glorious creation shine forth.

“God will continually revitalize you, implanting within you the passion to do what pleases him.” (Philippians 2:13, the Passion Translation)

What a wonderful assurance! We don’t have to resign ourselves to weariness or lack of enthusiasm. We can release that sense of burnout or overwhelm. God’s purpose for us is always being revitalized. He is always providing us with the energy as well as the renewal that may be needed to best serve His plan, one to which you are key.

As we let go of our gripes and our fears, our self-doubt and blame of others, we can receive and feel what God is doing in us and for us. As we humbly let go, trust Him, and listen for what’s next, we can discover the passion—the zeal and enthusiasm—He has planted in us, bursting into new life.

For while the way in which we serve God may change, our purpose to show Him forth remains a constant. God demands that we express Him—His intention of goodness and Love—and so He will always make us capable of this, giving us what we need. This includes that new light, that resurrecting radiance, that joy and fresh excitement that helps animate us as well as satisfy us.

We find ourselves feeling refreshed and ready, not because of what we have done before, but because of what God is doing in us, with us, for us, right now.

“Discover for yourself that the Lord is kind. Come to him for protection, and you will be glad.” (Psalms 34: 8, Contemporary English Version)

We may feel we really don’t know what life is all about. It may seem that we are constantly seeking a deeper understanding of who we are and of our place in the world. We may find ourselves often feeling fearful, confused, burdened.

Well, it’s time for some discovery. We can eagerly begin the experience of gaining some answers, new views, and peace. We can consciously choose to get closer to God, the Mind that made and reveals all things; the Mind, the Truth, the Life that is kind.

We can with joy and enthusiasm turn to God for our protection and direction. We won’t find ourselves feeling ashamed or afraid or insecure. Choosing to look to God—rather than self or the world for our help and our definition of life—we find Love. God does not condemn, nor does He ignore or neglect us. God is kind. And divine kindness is greater than human compassion. It saves us, heals us, uplifts us, restores us.

Let’s be ready to come to God, who knows us as we are and loves us without limit. Let’s discover this ready refuge and rejoice!

“I will bless with happiness the one who trusts in me, the one who trusts in me alone.”
(Jeremiah 17:7, the Passion Translation)

Happiness is found in trust.

It may seem to us that our joy is about control—about feeling that we can run our lives the way we want and choose according to our own personal preferences. This may feel like a satisfying state, one where we get all that we desire.

But ultimately this is both misguided and a burden. Believing that we are in charge of our destinies or wishing we personally could design everything according to our own vision, leaves us with the weighty responsibility both for ourselves and for how our actions may affect others. Likewise, we may find that what we see as ideal isn’t truly satisfying our deeper desires, providing true contentment and a progressive state of being.

Let’s drop that burden and give up the possibility of failure. Let’s instead trust in God Who made us, knows us, and can see clearly what is right for our lives. Our lives are not a burden to Him, and the rightness of them is essential to Him. For as we humbly let go of ego and self, and yield to God’s Love, we naturally express what He would have seen and known about Himself that we alone can uniquely show forth.

We can rely on God, not self or others, and we will be blessed with a true happiness that celebrates God’s Life and Love and satisfies us more than just superficially, but in a deep and lasting way, as God’s blessings naturally do.

“Give to the Lord the honor that belongs to Him. Worship the Lord in the beauty of holy living.” (Psalms 29:2, New Life Version)

We can give God His due. We can choose to consciously honor Him. God is good. He is Love. He is Life. He is Truth. Aren’t these divine qualities worth our worship and respect?

Let’s be awake to God’s presence and power and let our lives sing forth His praises. We can worship Him through the beauty of holy living. We can fill even the mundane hours of our day with a praise, a loveliness that comes from expressing God’s own goodness in us. Holy living is living in communion with Love.

It isn’t always easy to feel connected to this grace, but it is always there for us to experience and share. We know that we ourselves are touched by those who seem to be in step with generosity, peacefulness, kindness, selflessness. They glow with a light that goes beyond human personality. It is God’s radiance in them shining with the least amount of ego blocking or dimming its light.

Revering and honoring God means we deliberately put goodness and love first. We can do this. It’s natural for us to live with beauty, poise, and joy, for we were made to do this. We can turn to God, give Him our genuine respect. We can let Him show us how to drop that shroud of fear and self and limit and to dance forth with joy through our holy, beautiful lives.

“Overflow with mercy and compassion for others, just as your heavenly Father overflows with mercy and compassion for all.” (Luke 6:36, the Passion Translation)

Be generous with your kindness and love. Be ready and willing to really see one another and to share freely out of the rich storehouse of love we all have.

For God has indeed showed us what Love is. He abides with us every moment, leading us to know what is true and right, saving us from trouble, showing us tender mercy when we go astray. God sees His children as lovable and worthy. He is our Father and Mother, and His Love for us is measureless and constant. God loves each of us, and He gives us individual angels to comfort us and awaken us to His goodness as well as what is right.

We can always turn to God and feel His gentle compassion and merciful affection. We can humbly receive this Love and honor these qualities that He awakens in us. We can go out into the world and be ready to live a life full of compassion and mercy, of a sweet eagerness to forgive, to assure, and to bring healing light to others because of God’s own overflowing grace towards us.

“He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.” (Psalms 112: 7)

Don’t be afraid. Don’t let the gloomy predictions and doubts that may be swirling about carry you away into anxiety and dismay. Tomorrow is not full of danger and darkness. God is the bearer of good news, the good news, and we can trust His Word, His Truth.

As we continue to deal with daily decisions, being alert to what each moment requires of us, we can remain fearless. Our hearts can feel peace and certainty because we trust God above all else. That inner consciousness of God’s presence and authority sustains our confidence. It brings light to the shadows that the limited perspective would parade before us. We are able to see through the tempting lies of doom and be ready for God’s promises.

Evil tidings will continue to come. The mortal mind is paranoid. It becomes caught up in its worries, blame, victimization. It will keep trying to tell us we have reason to feel afraid and to give up. But our hearts have the Truth. We are awake to the deception and ready to experience salvation, revelation, inspiration, and joy.

“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” (II Corinthians 1: 3-4)

Comfort. We all have times where we desperately seek it—physical comfort, ease of fears, peace of mind, solace in times of grief. Where can we find this comfort?

It may be felt in the presence of caring people, but it has its origin in God, divine Love, and so is ever available, endless, as well as precise to meet the need of the hour. God is our Father-Mother. He is full of mercy. She is full of tenderness. This divine Parent is always with us, caring for us. We can turn from the human sense of despair and pity and find ourselves embraced in that divine comfort that truly heals.

And feeling this comfort and knowing its boundless source, we are able to utilize this very experience, this quality of Love in us, to be comforters for others. We can share our genuine affection as well as those assurances that come from a place of honesty, an understanding of the Truth that truly does set us free from discomfort, doubt, and anxiety.

Let’s gratefully receive God’s comfort. Let’s allow ourselves to be tenderly loved and our cares eased. Then let’s graciously use this powerful quality, felt in us, to bring peace to others who are in trouble, in need.

“Listen closely, and come even closer. My words will give life, for I will make a covenant with you that cannot be broken, a promise of My enduring presence and support like I gave to David.” (Isaiah 55: 3, the Voice Translation)

We can lean in, with our full attention, and listen to God’s wonderful promises for us. We can consciously pause and open our hearts to what is true. We can release the need to qualify and judge, to doubt and to fear, and simply let ourselves hear and accept the word of Love.

God has the Truth for us. He is showing us, as he did David and Jesus, that we are always with Him, inseparably connected to all that He is—to Life, to Love, to Truth, to joy, to freedom, to goodness. We can’t ever be severed from this state of being and we can rely on this everlasting covenant, this permanent relationship with our Father-Mother-God.

Let’s be willing to humbly hear what God has to tell us. Let’s be ready for His assurances that we are, indeed, the children of light and Life that He caused us to be. Let’s eagerly draw close to God. Let’s use our spiritual senses, that inner knowing and readiness that leaves space for grace.

Listen closely. Then come even closer. There is always even more to discover about this wonderful Life that is Love and that is ours eternally.

“Splendid and majestic is His work, and His righteousness endures forever. He has made His wonderful acts to be remembered;” (Psalms 111: 3-4, Amplified Bible)

God’s creation and activity is truly awesome, in the truest sense of that word. What God is and does is glorious, built of His own magnificent qualities and expressing His brilliant intention.

Let’s be actively conscious of this. Let’s daily acknowledge the amazing goodness that God has brought about—the beauty, the majesty, the evidence of His Love that abounds around us and that also dwells in our thoughts and our hearts.

God created the heavens and the earth, as the Bible tells us. His holy hand, His Spirit, has brought out His own countless and perfect ideas for us to behold and cherish. Let’s delight in the sky and the sea, the mountains and the plains, the creatures that dwell on our planet and the planets that dwell in our infinite cosmos.

God’s acts should not be forgotten—the grand life-giving ones as well as the small proofs of His care and light and power that we’ve experienced in our daily walk through life. God’s creation stands, and this creation truly includes every spiritual quality of His Being. Truth and justice, love and goodness, are all undying—they’ve always been and can never cease. God is All and He is always. He is worthy of our conscious awe, our attention, and our gratitude.
