“For His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen since the creation of the world, being understood through what He has made. As a result, people are without excuse.” (Romans 1: 20, Holman Christian Standard Bible)

We have countless opportunities to know God. We can realize His presence with us today and throughout our lives.

It may seem as if a spiritual God is distant or unknowable, invisible, as this verse says. But God’s beautiful attributes are clearly seen in His creation. God, as Life and Truth, has always had an expression, the vibrant evidence of His Allness and goodness.

We have no excuse. When we see good expressed—love, kindness, respect, devotion, joy, inspiration, creativity—we are witnessing God in action. His qualities transcend this physical evidence in our world, yet what we see and feel is a powerful glimpse of His infinite Being and purpose. So, we can gratefully recognize the Source of beauty and goodness, intelligence and power, as God.

We can get to know God’s creation better. We can willingly witness the spiritual nature of all that is, including mankind, ourselves. We can gratefully honor this great God and His Love. Spirit, Life, Soul, is forever unfolding more light and life and glory for us to discover, and we can worship, with humble joy and awe, the God that made it all.

“Establish my footsteps in [the way of] Your word; Do not let any human weakness have power over me [causing me to be separated from You].” (Psalms 119: 133, Amplified Bible)

Let’s stay in step with God. Let’s continue to recognize our true oneness with Father-Mother-Life, and hold that Truth close in our hearts. God’s Word is forever speaking to us and within us, encouraging us forward and opening our thought more each day to what is right and real, what will cause us to flourish as well as to bring goodness to our world.

We can watch where we are walking and consider who is doing the leading. Are we letting human opinions guide our thoughts and actions? Are we pushing forward with human will, feeling we must prove ourselves worthy and gain success through personal efforts? Or maybe we feel timid, afraid, small in the face of life and circumstances. We may think we are too tired, too ignorant, too jaded to advance and thrive.

But when we turn to God and His thoughts about us, the idea that He created, we relinquish those human weaknesses that seem to control us. We come to feel that closeness to God and we are confident because God is wise, powerful, and always with us. We feel an inseparability from all that God is, every beautiful quality, and we begin to recognize and love the right and perfect way of His Word.

“Discover for yourself that the Lord is kind. Come to him for protection, and you will be glad.” (Psalms 34: 8, Contemporary English Version)

Let’s eagerly make this discovery. Let’s look to God for our help, our direction, our protection. Let’s remember that God is Love—perfect and infinite Love. So, His care for us is never grudging or judgmental. It never withholds or asks us to prove ourselves ready through suffering or through self-condemnation.

We can humbly yet confidently come to God and find kindness. God’s law is powerful and unopposed. It is unwavering and righteous. But it is always loving, kind, because this is God’s nature, and because Love alone has the ability to win—to harmonize, heal, save, and bless. Anything unkind, is not of God, and it is also without power. It has no ability to damage us or deny us God’s safety and the Life He would have us express.

Let’s look to God for help, willingly and fearlessly. Let’s find out for ourselves that God is kind. Let’s accept this kindness and receive the healing it can bring. Then, let’s express this kindness toward others, knowing its power to help and heal, and to bring more light to our lives as well.

“I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]” (Philippians 4: 13, Amplified Bible)

This statement is so empowering! And yet it is also humbling. It is not by our human will that we make things happen and progress. It isn’t by formulating a personal plan and pushing forward with boldness and with burden. It is through God that we find both strength and purpose.

For God has both the plan for our lives and the manner of achieving it. As we lean gratefully on God, we hear His guidance and wisdom step by step, in the direction and at the pace that He would have us go, to fulfill His perfect design for our lives, one that is blessed and a blessing.

We find our sufficiency in God’s abundance forever with us. His strength is our strength. His confidence is our confidence. When we let God direct us and protect us, we have all that we need, including a clarity of purpose and a love for that purpose as well. We are self-sufficient by knowing that our selfhood is always at one with God. We cannot do anything alone, and we never have to.

We are ready for anything and equal to it, as this verse says, because we have God’s Love with us, His Spirit in us, and His Truth actively unfolding our right and successful way.

“Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ.” (Ephesians 5:2, New Living Translation)

Life should be filled with Love. In fact, Life is God and God is Love, so Life is naturally filled with Love. Love is the true substance of Life.

So, how do we feel and experience this? By consciously accepting God’s love as present and powerful, as the very essence of our own being and living. Then, we follow Christ’s example. We have a teacher who definitively proved how one can live a love-filled life.

Jesus lived in conscious relation to God. He actively acknowledged His oneness and sonship with God Who is divine Love. Jesus understood that to be God’s child and to fulfill God’s purpose, he had to live in accord with his true identity. And this true selfhood was Love’s image and likeness.

To live a life filled with Love brought healing to the world. This love-filled life Jesus demonstrated for us wasn’t naïve or timid. His meekness, his utter yielding to God’s goodness, made him truly mighty. He knew that divine Love conquered all, and that to live the Truth of this, daily and diligently, was to experience and express heaven on earth.

We have the Christ within us. We have the ability and pleasure of living a life that is full of God’s goodness, replete with the glorious gift and saving power that is Love.

“We are confident that God is able to orchestrate everything to work toward something good and beautiful when we love Him and accept His invitation to live according to His plan.” (Romans 8: 28, the Voice Translation)

We only have to accept the invitation. We must and can agree to be the children of God that we are. As we love God, good, and trust His infinite wisdom and Love, we walk freely forward in His plan.

And God’s plan, His purpose for us, is a brilliant and beautiful design for life. It harmonizes with others and is perfectly timed, with a rhythm that allows both for stillness and for dancing. We can choose to live in accord with the Truth, to live a Life that willingly releases human will and worry to the design of God.

And this gives us confidence. For God is orchestrating everything for us, for the good of all. He knows what we need, and He knows who we truly are—His beloved, His image, the very expression of His own beautiful and useful qualities. And so, He is always causing us to make progress, to shine forth, to bring out—with stunning certainty—His glorious symphony of Soul.

“Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which ties everything together in unity.” (Colossians 3:14, International Standard Version)

As we prepare for each day, let’s not forget the most important detail. We certainly want to wake up to life with a real sense of purpose and expectation. It helps for us to release the burden of worry and fear to a trust in God Who can show us the right and easier way, naturally, each hour.

But as we pull ourselves together with the usual tasks to head out the door or into our day, let’s not forget the most essential thing: to clothe ourselves with love. Let’s consciously feel and cherish the love the God has given us. Let’s hold it to us, carry it in our hearts, and then let’s wear that love on our sleeve, so to speak.

We don’t need to be shy about making the love in our hearts known in our world. As we recognize God’s presence with us, and the fact of His love for all of us, we experience and bear witness to a perfect unity. Love is active in every place. As we express this love instead of hate, resentment, fear, we see things harmonize, naturally.

Love unites. Anything unlike love divides. Let’s carry love with us everywhere we go, with a conscious intention. Let’s play our active and satisfying part in expressing this divine affection and in seeing the unity of God’s glorious creation shine forth.

“God will continually revitalize you, implanting within you the passion to do what pleases him.” (Philippians 2:13, the Passion Translation)

What a wonderful assurance! We don’t have to resign ourselves to weariness or lack of enthusiasm. We can release that sense of burnout or overwhelm. God’s purpose for us is always being revitalized. He is always providing us with the energy as well as the renewal that may be needed to best serve His plan, one to which you are key.

As we let go of our gripes and our fears, our self-doubt and blame of others, we can receive and feel what God is doing in us and for us. As we humbly let go, trust Him, and listen for what’s next, we can discover the passion—the zeal and enthusiasm—He has planted in us, bursting into new life.

For while the way in which we serve God may change, our purpose to show Him forth remains a constant. God demands that we express Him—His intention of goodness and Love—and so He will always make us capable of this, giving us what we need. This includes that new light, that resurrecting radiance, that joy and fresh excitement that helps animate us as well as satisfy us.

We find ourselves feeling refreshed and ready, not because of what we have done before, but because of what God is doing in us, with us, for us, right now.

“Discover for yourself that the Lord is kind. Come to him for protection, and you will be glad.” (Psalms 34: 8, Contemporary English Version)

We may feel we really don’t know what life is all about. It may seem that we are constantly seeking a deeper understanding of who we are and of our place in the world. We may find ourselves often feeling fearful, confused, burdened.

Well, it’s time for some discovery. We can eagerly begin the experience of gaining some answers, new views, and peace. We can consciously choose to get closer to God, the Mind that made and reveals all things; the Mind, the Truth, the Life that is kind.

We can with joy and enthusiasm turn to God for our protection and direction. We won’t find ourselves feeling ashamed or afraid or insecure. Choosing to look to God—rather than self or the world for our help and our definition of life—we find Love. God does not condemn, nor does He ignore or neglect us. God is kind. And divine kindness is greater than human compassion. It saves us, heals us, uplifts us, restores us.

Let’s be ready to come to God, who knows us as we are and loves us without limit. Let’s discover this ready refuge and rejoice!

“I will bless with happiness the one who trusts in me, the one who trusts in me alone.”
(Jeremiah 17:7, the Passion Translation)

Happiness is found in trust.

It may seem to us that our joy is about control—about feeling that we can run our lives the way we want and choose according to our own personal preferences. This may feel like a satisfying state, one where we get all that we desire.

But ultimately this is both misguided and a burden. Believing that we are in charge of our destinies or wishing we personally could design everything according to our own vision, leaves us with the weighty responsibility both for ourselves and for how our actions may affect others. Likewise, we may find that what we see as ideal isn’t truly satisfying our deeper desires, providing true contentment and a progressive state of being.

Let’s drop that burden and give up the possibility of failure. Let’s instead trust in God Who made us, knows us, and can see clearly what is right for our lives. Our lives are not a burden to Him, and the rightness of them is essential to Him. For as we humbly let go of ego and self, and yield to God’s Love, we naturally express what He would have seen and known about Himself that we alone can uniquely show forth.

We can rely on God, not self or others, and we will be blessed with a true happiness that celebrates God’s Life and Love and satisfies us more than just superficially, but in a deep and lasting way, as God’s blessings naturally do.
