“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Then come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis.” (Matthew 11: 28, the Passion Translation)

Your oasis isn’t a mirage. It isn’t some far off, unreachable hope. The Christ is at the ready now to refresh our lives, to lift that heavy burden, to free us and energize us.

This question is really an invitation to all of us. We are being called to our salvation, our rescue. That Christ-message of oneness with our Father-Mother is ours to accept. We can come into that divine presence and awareness, and in doing so, drop those mental and physical burdens at the feet of divine Love Herself.

And we needn’t pick up that baggage again. When we lean on infinite power, on the Almighty God, on that One Mind, on the Truth, the lies of limitation, doubt, heaviness, are annulled. We can become who we were made to be, the beloved of God, subject to His benevolent government, led by His kindness, supported by His strength.

This was Jesus’ message to us all. Come to me. Come into that saving awareness that you are not alone, small, mortal. You are God’s idea and never separate from His inspiration, His sustenance, His energy, His uplift, His sweet and tranquil oasis.

“…let the peace that comes from Christ control your thoughts. And be grateful.” (Colossians 3: 15, Contemporary English Version)

We have peace. It is always available to us, an aspect of our very being, for the Christ is ours. This true nature that Jesus so beautifully demonstrated, is always ours. The mortal thought and the world’s distractions may make us lose sight of our own ability to be serene. But we can truly claim this quality at any time.

This tranquility within is based on reality. Jesus was peaceful because he knew that God was in control, was always with him, and that this God is Love. Jesus remained undisturbed even when storms raged around him. And this quiet assurance is ours as well. As we accept this fact of being, our thoughts become clear and ordered, governed by the spiritual Truth, not the presentation of material sense and emotions.

Allow this peace to be felt within. It is God’s own presence in us, so it is powerful, authoritative, and active for good. We can let this sweetness resonate with us, bringing enlightenment and radiating that peace to the world, naturally, as well.

“And if you pour out that with which you sustain your own life for the hungry and satisfy the need of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in darkness, and your obscurity and gloom become like the noonday.” (Isaiah 58: 10, Amplified Bible Classic Edition)

Giving is always a blessing. It is a sunrise in our souls when we share of our own abundance. And, yes, we do have an abundance out of which to feed others, help them, and thus experience this brightness, peace, joy.

The riches you have are those qualities of goodness that come of God. They are uniquely expressed by you in the way you live, the ideas that you share and nurture, and mostly by the measureless quality of your love. Those spiritual attributes are not limited, and so your giving of them, as inspiration guides you, never depletes.

As we each share what we have, with an honest heart to benefit another, we are utilizing God’s own supply. This goodness never wastes away, and by its use we experience what we have. This enriches our own moments as well, awakens us to that inexhaustible substance of Love.

When a musician plays a song, he is not using up the notes or his own musicianship. He is giving music to others, feeling it himself, and gaining more skill, becoming more adept at what he does, and more confident to share it.

All our special gifts are like this. Those things that sustain us so well, can be given to others either by sharing human supply, supported by our pure intentions, or by giving through our own individual talents, our affection, our humor, our grace, and the powerful gift of sheer kindness.

Let the gloom dissipate in the glow of your natural generosity!

“Invigorate my life so that I can praise you even more, and may your truth be my strength! I’ll never forget what you’ve taught me, Lord, but when I wander off and lose my way, come after me, for I am your beloved!” (Psalms 119: 175-176, the Passion Translation)

This plea is full of trust and expectancy. It is also glowing with gratitude and humility.

What a wonderful example of prayer! The psalmist begins by turning to God, but he doesn’t ask for things or for his own personal success. He asks his Father to vitalize his own life so that the writer can more actively praise God. It is a motive that certainly desires help but is also driven by a need to be what God would have him be, to reveal in his own experience the qualities he seeks.

This prayer acknowledges the strength of Truth and its place in the psalmist’s heart and thoughts. He honors this Truth as a needed aspect of living. It is an awareness of God that makes his course right and good.

But, humbly, the poet here also knows he doesn’t always get it right. He may wander off at times, forget what is most virtuous and true, be fearful or confused or in doubt. So, he adds a request that he be sought out by God when this happens. He demonstrates a willingness to receive guidance and be brought back home to God’s own plan. And while this is an earnest appeal, it contains an expectation of answered prayer.

I am your beloved. The psalmist knows this is a fact, and so his help must come, the guidance must be given, the rescue, the strength, the invigorated life will be provided. For Love must love. And we are all God’s beloved ones. Our prayers can affirm this, and we can also be ready for the influx and the embrace.

“You see, God did not give us a cowardly spirit but a powerful, loving, and disciplined spirit.” (II Timothy 1: 7, the Voice Translation)

We all seem to have things that make us afraid. We feel vulnerable or threatened, either by people and circumstances in our lives, or by concerns about the future and what it might hold. We may take the stance that this is just who we are and even that it is justified.

But we can listen to this message and realize that it tells us the Truth. We are being read our rights. We have the right to be free, and the power to know this and to live it. Fear is bondage. But it isn’t legitimate. It’s not a quality of God, of our Life. What God didn’t give us, we don’t need to hold on to or attempt to justify as natural and valid.

God didn’t give us cowardice. He gave us, instead, a powerful, loving, and disciplined spirit. He gave us a sense of calm confidence, an awareness of Love, which antidotes fear.

And this isn’t about facing down fears with human bravery. It is about yielding to the power of divine Love with us and within us. We can release that fearful disposition that we may have come to accept. We are what God made us to be. Knowing this, fear dissolves and we are strengthened to progress, to live expansively, and to give freely and generously.

“Open my eyes to see wonderful things in your Word. I am but a pilgrim here on earth: how I need a map—and your commands are my chart and guide. I long for your instructions more than I can tell.” (Psalms 119: 18-20, the Living Bible)

We are pilgrims. We are journeying on earth, seeking a holy place, and covering new territory every day. We may have a resolve to get where we are going, to understand more, to feel a true sense of being settled, home. But we also need a map. We need a guide.

God is at hand and He is leading us in each moment. His Word—that holy goodness, that truth of our lives, the reality of His presence—is our instruction and our protection. As we look to that divine compass, we find our true north, the direction that we need to go, and with it the energy and desire to walk forward.

Let’s allow God to open our eyes to our true path to peace. Let’s not get caught up in listening to what the ego and the world’s opinions tell us is the way to heaven on earth and beyond. God is heaven. He is here. God hasn’t left us in a foreign land to fend for ourselves. He has put us here to show forth His own glory, to spread the word of Life and Love, and to feel the sense of belonging that comes from oneness with God, discovering new vistas with each step we take along the way.

“At present mortals progress slowly for fear of being thought ridiculous. They are slaves to fashion, pride, and sense.” (Science and Health, page 68)

We seek progress and freedom. We hope to make an impact and to live satisfying lives. This is certainly our right and God’s intention.

But we may feel less than free and progressive when we become slaves to the temptations of material sense and the world’s idea of what success looks like. A preoccupation with what we look like to others, how on trend we are, how we compare to others and meet or beat their standards, is going to slow us down.

We may be timid about being ourselves, about remaining true to our higher spiritual insights and understanding. We may indeed be afraid of being thought ridiculous to others because we refuse to be slaves to some arbitrary ideal of the moment. We may be afraid that if we truly radiate the love in our heart, we will be seen as naïve or weak or deluded.

But if we truly seek to move forward in life—to be successful and also feel that integrity of being that is truly satisfying—we have to stop buying what the world is offering and begin to receive and live the Truth. We can surely enjoy life even more when we aren’t slaves but the free and authentic children of the Almighty God!

“There are many more sheep than you can see here, and I will bring them as well. They will hear My voice, and the flock will be united. One flock. One shepherd.” (John 10: 16, the Voice Translation)

We all have the ability to know God and the Truth that is freeing, saving, enriching. The reach of this Christ message, the Shepherd’s voice of comfort and love, is not limited. It is God’s own word of Love, His unifying call to come home.

It may seem like we are all governed by different authorities, different opinions, varied beliefs, faiths, and loyalties. But these human distinctions are not divisive to God. We are all of His flock, all born out of His Love, made to express His Life, and each worthy to know what this means.

The Christ is that Truth that persists. It gathers us all in, one by one, to know the fullness of grace. We can turn away, we can argue, we can deny the presence and purpose and power of Love, but it still remains the reality, the Truth. Let’s rest in this awareness. And let’s remind ourselves and share with others the glorious fact that we are one flock, one brotherhood, one family, equally treasured by God, by divine Love.

“I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can see something of the future he has called you to share. I want you to realize that God has been made rich because we who are Christ’s have been given to him!” (Ephesians 1: 18, the Living Bible)

Open your hearts and let the light flood on in! Awake to receive the good news about who you are and what this means for your life.

The Christ-message tells us of our oneness with God, our inseverable relationship with our Father-Mother Who is eternal Life and unconditional Love. This is our origin and our destiny. We are God’s beloved, and we can acknowledge this now and without equivocation.

Let the radiance of God’s light illumine your soul, that inner space in you that is ready to believe, to accept the spiritual reality, and to live the glorious life here and now, that this Truth reveals.

God absolutely cherishes you. He embraces the very essence of you, for it is His own goodness made known. God, good, is seen on earth because you walk there, aware of Him as your Source, the light of today, and a beacon toward a beautiful future as well.

“I will instruct you (says the Lord) and guide you along the best pathway for your life; I will advise you and watch your progress.” (Psalms 32: 8, the Living Bible)

We have a Teacher. We have a Leader. We have an Advisor that is wise, devoted, and always at hand.

You are on a progressive path. God has caused you to be, to express His purpose. He is leading you forward, step by step, and He is available for constant consultation! This isn’t about pleading for help or arguing with the Almighty. It’s about opening our thinking and our hearts to God’s direction. It is about letting go of a willful sense of what we think we should do or be or believe, and instead trusting God to show us what is right and ultimately most satisfying as well.

God’s way is the way we want. We can see that path revealed and follow it as we listen for His Word. We know His voice because it feels loving, it feels comforting, and it also feels inviting to us. God is Love and He is Truth. He is light and Life. His guidance leads us to doing good and feeling free, vital, and also secure.

We can’t fail to progress because God is watching us, each step of the way. He is faithfully keeping us on track, encouraging us, steering us back on course and around obstacles.

Your path is a beautiful one, and you can traverse it with confidence because you are accompanied by an infallible companion—God Who made you, knows you, and loves you now and forever.
