“Now I am happy, not because you had such sorrow, but because your sorrow led you to repent. For you were sorry in a godly way, and so you were not hurt by us in any way. For having sorrow in a godly way results in repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regrets.” (II Corinthians 7: 9-10, International Standard Version)

Repentance is healing. It renews us, restores any sense of lost innocence. It leads us to our natural freedom, with the bonus of wisdom, humility, understanding, and strength.

We all go through trials of our faith. We find ourselves making mistakes, being less than we would want to be. This is growth. We are all children learning what is right, sometimes through trials, sorrows, and missteps.

But as we willingly repent—change our thought through an awakening to Truth, to God, good—we are able to move forward. We leave behind the wrong way of thinking, for a purer perspective, one that is more sincere, meaningful, and restorative.

Washed in God’s Love, we have no regrets, for all that has come before has only led us to know better our unbreakable oneness with our Father-Mother—a connection that has no blame, no shame, no condemnation.

We can gratefully rejoice in the repentance that saves us each day and leads us to even more fully feel Love’s ever-present embrace.

“All praises belong to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he is the Father of tender mercy and the God of endless comfort.” (II Corinthians 1: 3, the Passion Translation)

The Father that Jesus revealed to us is not only mighty, but also perfectly loving. This Mother-Father of us all is one with Whom we can always be ourselves, turning to Her in times of trouble not only for wisdom, but for tenderness and affection.

God never runs out of mercy and comfort. We never tire Him out or frustrate Him. God is always ready to show us that we are loved, and how we can even better feel that love by knowing Him and ourselves better. Each moment of confusion or fear or self-doubt is an occasion to experience even more of the pure Father-Mothering of God, good.

So, let’s praise Him for this, and for all He does for us. Let’s stop blaming others or God Himself when we feel lost or lose faith. Instead, let’s remember Who God is—the Truth and Love that Jesus showed us—and be willing to be humbly blessed and caressed by this ever-present, perpetually comforting, Father-Mother of us all.

“Open my eyes [to spiritual truth] so that I may behold Wonderful things from Your law. I am a stranger on the earth; Do not hide Your commandments from me.” (Psalms 119: 18-19, Amplified Bible)

We all may feel at times like we are strangers on earth. We may experience uncertainty, or feel put of place, untethered, or unaccepted. We may believe that we are misunderstood, or that that our perspective is different than the norm. Perhaps we are uncomfortable in a world that seems too cynical, too fast-paced, too dark.

We can turn to God and feel our true sense of belonging. The spiritual Truth is here to assure us of what is right and good. God’s law announces the beauty and harmony and peace that we yearn for, that feels like home to us.

God’s commandments, His Law of Life, is not hidden from us. It is the very voice within that truly wants to believe that all is well, that weare worthy and deserving of good. And as we humbly turn to this law—open our eyes to God’s Truth and allow it to instruct us, moment by moment—we begin to see wonderful things unfold in our experience.

We no longer feel like strangers on earth, but instead know that we are a necessary part of God’s glorious creation and are ready to live and share this universal good news with all.

“If you are generous with the hungry and start giving yourselves to the down-and-out, your lives will begin to glow in the darkness, your shadowed lives will be bathed in sunlight.” (Isaiah 58: 10, the Message Bible)

Generosity of spirit and action gives a powerful energy to our lives. As we open our eyes to the needs of others, looking beyond self with an expanding vision outside of what is comfortable and familiar to us, our lives take on meaning and glow with light.

We each have so much to give out of our natural hearts of love, that spirit within us that God has generously given to us. We have the richness of God’s own qualities to share with others, humbly, and to receive what naturally comes of gracious giving.

We may feel led to literally give to the hungry and those who are going through hard times. This may mean offering provisions or simply giving another a sincere moment of our time and care. We find light as we see light in others—as we see the dignity and goodness of all, as we know the worthiness of one another.

We can bask in the sunlight of taking another into our prayers, consciously, seeing them as God sees them and knowing that He is caring for all, loving each with the very love that He is also loving us.

Taking off the limiting shroud of ego and fear and putting on this mantle of light, we find true joy in being an active participant in and witness to God’s grace in every place.

“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” (Jeremiah 33: 3)

We may feel in the dark about our future. Or we may know exactly what we want and are struggling to see it come to pass, growing impatient for results. It’s natural to want to push for what we envision for ourselves, to want to see the evidence according to some picture in our minds.

But God’s true purpose and the way it must unfold is much greater, mightier, more wonderful. We can let go of our limited way of approaching things and call unto God. We can do our best to let go of any fixed conception of what is right and best for us. We can release a sense of need and worry and fear and turn to God with humble willingness to be surprised.

We can’t know all, and human theories and material presentations will never give us a clear picture of God’s fuller purpose and beautiful design. As we stop fixating on what we think we know and are willing to let God reveal what He knows about us and our lives, we begin to see beautiful ideas develop, new horizons open up, and blessings appear that we could not have outlined.

We can know that God is Love and that He is Life. Calling on Him with trust and expectancy, we can gratefully enjoy what He is revealing, just for us, today and into our bright tomorrow as well.

“I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” (John 14: 18)

Release yourself willingly to this assurance. Jesus was telling his followers and us today, that while he would leave the human experience, the comforting Christ would always remain.

This powerful Christ comes to us. We don’t need to go in desperate search of peace and comfort from other humans. It isn’t out there in some distant future or lost in our past. We have the very presence of God with us, and this shows itself in the Christly touch that knows what we need now and is able to bring it. Tenderly. Gently. Powerfully.

When grief would engulf us and fears would seem to rob us of our peace and rest, we can turn with humble expectation to the arms of divine Love. The Comforter comes to us with the assurances we need, the inspiration that can break through the clouds, and the energy that can enliven us to move forward with grace and expectation.

This Comforter is always coming to us because it has never left us. We are simply awakening to the eternal, abiding presence of active, infinite, Love.

“Don’t allow yourself to be overpowered with evil. Take the offensive—overpower evil by good!” (Romans 12: 21, J.B. Phillips New Testament)

We have the ability and right to put down the evil in our lives through the righteous power of goodness. We can do more than feel defensive, with an accompanying sense of fear or resignation, and really go on the offensive against what would oppose good for ourselves and for our world.

This verse recognizes that we may get pulled into allowing ourselves to be overpowered by challenges and transfixed by troubling presentations. But we are strongly advised and encouraged not to allow this! As we stand with God, with good, we have mightiness on our side. We have the Truth!

And as we march forth with this Truth of goodness, of Love, we not only obliterate the darkness with our light, we also find a certain joy and freedom in doing it. For utilizing the weapons of peace and goodness and love is energizing, fulfilling, and more natural to us than succumbing to the evil that is not our fate, not our cross to bear.

“Don’t just listen to the Word of Truth and not respond to it, for that is the essence of self-deception. So always let his Word become like poetry written and fulfilled by your life!” (James 1: 22, the Passion Translation)

Don’t let yourself be deceived. You are missing out on the experience of Truth if you don’t consciously respond to its call. To listen to the good news of God and His promise of light and love without realizing its active impact, claiming its power, is to lose the opportunity to truly live!

When divine Love stirs our hearts; when we are awakened to something that feels comforting, healing, renewing, we can receive the import of this. We can cherish what we are coming to know and let it lead us forward in our lives. We can recognize our relationship with God and what this precious bond can bring to each moment.

Let’s hear the poetry of God’s Word, its deep significance and its beauty as well, and be willing to do more than appreciate it and move on. Let’s allow the message to linger with us, stirring us into thoughts and actions that are healing and helpful, uplifting and enlivening. Let’s be the very living witnesses to God’s glorious Life that is Love!

“Truth’s shining light guides me in my choices and decisions; the revelation of your Word makes my pathway clear.” (Psalms 119: 105, the Passion Translation)

When we feel confused or less than confident in how to proceed in our lives, we can remember that true clarity is not out of reach. We don’t need to be pressured in our decisions, make random guesses, or feel we simply can’t move forward at all.

Truth’s light is ours. As we let go of a personal sense of things—weighing and judging, getting caught up in details or what others may think or want—we get that clearer view. By stilling the arguments and seeking God’s ready light, we find answers and direction that make sense and feels calm and natural.

We can remember God’s Word, His loving voice that wants only good for us, and know that we are being led, step by step, in His way. We can lose the darkness of fear in the light of God’s presence and the comfort that brings. We can remember that God is always with us on the pathway of Life He has made for us.  With each choice, we have God’s wisdom as well as His Love to lead us, direct us, and redirect us if that is needed. We are safe in Truth’s shining light!

“Go ahead, praise the Lord, all you loving servants of God! Keep it up! Praise him some more! From sunrise-brilliance to sunset-beauty, lift up his praise from dawn to dusk!” (Psalms 113: 1, 3, the Passion Translation)

This is an energetic call to praise! It is an awakening to the day with a reminder of what that day is truly made of. We are being beckoned into an active awareness of God and the gratitude that reveals to our hearts all that we have through His grace.

So, go ahead. Praise God moment by moment. Let’s recognize that we are servants of God—we serve His intention of Love and Life and Truth. We are the representatives of God’s glory here and now, and we are in beautiful harmony with all that He has made.

This sunrise-brilliance and sunset-beauty is God’s eternal light, where the colors change, yet the sun remains a reliable constant. We can more wonderfully appreciate each hour of our day, each day of the year, when we walk through them in praise.

We can stop shuffling through life with eyes half-closed and mind on self. We can turn our faces to the light of God and praise Him—praise Love, praise Life, praise beauty, praise goodness! We can be more fully engaged in His creation, seeing His ideas as He sees them, and standing in thankful awe for God and for our place in His glorious universe.
