“For when you demonstrate the same love I have for you by loving one another, everyone will know that you’re my true followers.” (John 13:35, the Passion Translation)

Jesus so loved his disciples. It was more than friendship and companionship. He felt for them a spiritual love, a tender care for their needs, wisely watching over them with a focus on their growth in grace. Jesus knew that his students would carry his mission forward, and he knew that there was one essential element to its success.

Love. As followers of the Christ, the light of Truth and goodness in the world, they must practice this genuine, reflected divine Love, for one another. To preach and attempt to heal without a pure and powerful love in action, would not promote this message to the world in biblical days and it won’t bring peace and harmony today.

Love is needed. It may take some effort on our part to get past divisiveness, personal sense, ego, emotional reactions, and to let this divine Love fill us up and serve as our motive and means in all things. But Jesus did not tell his disciples to do something that wasn’t possible. His directions were revelations of what was not only right, but natural to them, and to each of us.

Let’s love one another, and by each loving thought and act show the world a little more of the saving Truth of Life that Jesus so beautifully and powerfully proved.

“Love never stops loving. It extends beyond the gift of prophecy, which eventually fades away. It is more enduring than tongues, which will one day fall silent. Love remains long after words of knowledge are forgotten.” (I Corinthians 13: 8, the Passion Translation)

Love is eternal and forever active. It endures because it is more than an emotion or sensation; it is a spiritual quality, the very name and nature of God. This Love that is God cannot be contained and it cannot be lost. It cannot wane or become corrupted.

Love lasts beyond all other forms of human action and knowledge. While spiritual concepts and methods of devotion can be inspiring and satisfying, they do not have the ring of reality, the unstoppable energy, the beautiful power, that divine Love has.

The true definition of Love may feel elusive at times. But to know its Source as God and to seek a better awareness of and release to omnipresent Love, we gain peace and purpose.

We can always count on Love to show us something new about Life, to give us a clearer sense of God and of ourselves. We can willingly, eagerly, receive and utilize this Love. We can honor it more than we would fear, sense testimony, and doubt, and by doing so begin to feel this Love within and to be ready to share it freely, genuinely, and gratefully!

“Why are you cast down, O my inner self? And why should you moan over me and be disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, Who is the help of my countenance, and my God.” (Psalms 42: 11, Amplified Bible Classic Edition)

We all have times when we struggle within to find a sense of peace and joy. We may feel a lack of meaning in our lives. We may feel unworthy, unloved, or unlovable. Maybe we are prone to self-judgement and doubt, ruminating over the past and fearing the future.

But this inner self that feels cast down and moans over its own being, can be settled, calmed, revived. We can remember that our true soul, our real selfhood, can be found in God. He is the immortal Soul of all being, and as we yield the personal ego to the law and love of God, we feel released and energized.

Let’s stop the questioning of self and instead begin seeking the answers from an honest and loving and trustworthy Source. Let’s stop clinging to some mortal belief in our right to feel low and anguished, and yield to the hope and expectation that opens our eyes to God, to pure and present good.

Let’s praise God Who is our help at all times and feel His loving light illuminating our day and revealing to us a brighter and more fruitful way!

“The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.” (Psalms 121: 7-8, New Living Translation)

God watches over our lives. He is with us in every place, every circumstance, every move we make. God, divine Love, is our assurance of safety and light and progress. We can’t ever move out of His sight or away from His purpose.

It may seem that yesterday’s mistakes or detours have delayed or stalled our lives, taken away an opportunity, or left an indelible mark on us. But God has never allowed us to be anything less than His beloved, pure and perfect in His eyes, and always with Him Who is the only Life.

We are now and forever guided and protected by God. His timeless presence is always with us, and we can’t wander from Who He is, and who we are to Him. We are God’s own expression, His idea. We are the very substance of God’s thoughts, so we are always in and on His Mind—seen, valued, preserved, and lovingly embraced.

“Arise [from spiritual depression to a new life], shine [be radiant with the glory and brilliance of the Lord]; for your light has come, And the glory and brilliance of the Lord has risen upon you…” (Isaiah 60: 1, Amplified Bible)

This is an invitation and a promise! Let’s accept it with willingness and humility. Let’s agree to wake up from the mesmerism of apathy and fear, and to shine as we were meant to.

Our light has come. The Spirit of Christ is with us here and now. This is the promise and the fulfilment. This Truth has been revealed and we can receive it with joy and gratitude. We are the children of God. We are allowed to shine. Indeed, we must shine, because we are not mere mortals, slogging through material experiences. We are the very evidence that God is here, that good is powerful, that Love is real and saving.

Let’s look to the dawn of each day as an occasion to recognize the glory and brilliance of God’s light rising upon us. Let’s turn our eager faces toward that light of Truth, without argument, self-doubt, or false feelings of unworthiness. Let’s remember that a new life always awaits us if we are willing to accept it.

Each moment we are made new. Divine Life demands that we progress. So, we can lift ourselves up, and let God lead us, step by step, in a renewed awareness of His—our—brilliant, glorious Life.

“Every gift God freely gives us is good and perfect, streaming down from the Father of lights, who shines from the heavens with no hidden shadow or darkness and is never subject to change.” (James 1:17, the Passion Translation)

Our gifts from God are given to us freely and without any hidden disclaimers. The blessings and His special qualities expressed toward us and through us, have no qualifications on them for use, nor do they expire.

God’s gifts, every one of them, are good and perfect and they come directly from God, the Father of lights. They stream down constantly, effortlessly, like the sun’s rays upon a humble earth. God’s changeless nature is our confidence. God’s infinite Love and shadowless Being is our reliance, the reason we can trust that Life’s bestowals to us are permanent, vital, and with no strings attached.

We can accept our gifts and know their Source. We can recognize our worthiness to receive these blessings, and to utilize God’s qualities freely in our unique and powerful way. These gifts are heavenly, so as we express them, we are giving our world a glimpse of the divine. And when we do this, we can’t help but feel harmony and contentment as well.

“Every believer has received grace gifts, so use them to serve one another as faithful stewards of the many-colored tapestry of God’s grace.” (I Peter 4:10, the Passion Translation)

We are all recipients of the gifts of grace. These are God’s blessings bestowed upon us because of His tender Love and perfect wisdom. God’s grace reveals special qualities in us, showing forth His purpose along with the resources to achieve it. We are graced with love, with understanding, with creativity, with orderliness, with an ability to comfort others and feel this comfort ourselves.

Let’s recognize the richness of God’s grace towards us. As we trust in and turn to Him, divine Love, we see His abundant goodness at hand. Then it is up to us to utilize those gifts in service of God, good. This means we serve one another with generosity and with genuine joy in this sharing and support.

Let’s be faithful stewards of the many-colored tapestry of God’s grace. Let’s protect God’s beautiful masterpiece of creation by clearly seeing the varied dimensions made by His hands and shown to us through His children, His expressions—ourselves and others. Let’s care for God’s ideas and live out His vision. Let’s consciously accept His ever-flowing grace and share it freely and gratefully.

“He will feed His fold like a shepherd; He will gather together His lambs—the weak and the wobbly ones—into His arms. He will carry them close to His bosom, and tenderly lead like a shepherd the mother of her lambs.” (Isaiah 40: 11, the Voice Translation)

Our God is divine Love. His care for us is a thorough embrace, a full measure of protection and affection, for every need we may have.

A shepherd cares for his sheep; their safety and well-being matter deeply to him. It is the shepherd’s duty and his natural impulse to watch over each one, and to know what they need and when they need it.

God tends to us like a shepherd does. We are all of His one fold, a multitude of God’s precious ideas— each one known and seen and loved. He enfolds us in His arms, individually, and collectively. He sees us as we are and knows us also as a harmonious flock, led by the same protector and guide, a cooperative expression of His holy purpose and the object of His love.

When we feel weak and weary, our Shepherd carries us, allowing us rest and a feeling of comfort. When we are mothering others or bringing new ideas to life, He leads us. Tenderly. Gently. We can come into what is new and right and good—peacefully, safely, well-nourished and loved, all the way home.

“Do not participate in the worthless and unproductive deeds of darkness, but instead expose them [by exemplifying personal integrity, moral courage, and godly character];” (Ephesians 5: 11, Amplified Bible)

We can combat the darkness in the world by being the light to each hour. We can make a conscious choice, in each new moment, not to be pulled into the negative and base. We can refuse to be sucked into the hatred, the selfish, the unproductive deeds that don’t have God, good, behind them.

We don’t need to join the fray, even when the crowd seems to be going in one direction, behaving in ways that are unloving and impure, full of rancor and self-righteousness. This is not who we are nor what God has made us to be.

And God’s qualities are where the power is. We can expose evil through the light that we recognize, cultivate, live, and share. We will never uncover dark deeds, motives, and even ignorant mistaken beliefs—in others or in ourselves—by remaining in the dark.

The only way to better our world and feel better ourselves, is to live that true “godly character” that is a reflection of God’s own goodness in us. It is to own up to our natural integrity and utilize that courage that comes of knowing that we are safe when we are true to God, living in the powerful light of Love.

“This is why the Scriptures say: Things never discovered or heard of before, things beyond our ability to imagine—these are the many things God has in store for all his lovers.” (I Corinthians 2: 9, the Passion Translation)

Loving God promises great things! As we turn away from self and stop looking for our goodness in people and things, in the past, in some change of human circumstances, we will begin to perceive and receive amazing things.

God has so many wonderful things in store for us! When we love Him as we were meant to do, we can experience what His affection is always doing for us. As we love divine Love, treasure Truth, look away from the limited to the limitless Cause and infinite effect of God’s Life, we are prepared to behold great things in our lives.

God’s revelations are beyond what our human minds can dream up. They are spiritual ideas that show us the heaven that is born of trust in God, good, and an awakened expectation that all things are possible to Him. And, along with that, we become aware that we are God’s children, the object and expression of all of His own unimaginably glorious qualities and actions.

Cultivate your innate love for God and get ready to see what Life has in store for you, and what your conscious love can bring to your world as well.
