Being Free Now

“This Soul-sense comes to the human mind when the latter yields to the divine Mind. Such intuitions reveal whatever constitutes and perpetuates harmony, enabling one to do good, but not evil.” (Science and Health, page 84)

Our Soul-sense is keen and clear and at the ready. This true intuitiveness comes not of human wisdom or insight, but of divine revelation. The divine Mind is always right and always actively proving that rightness. Our rest in this day and in the days to come is to acknowledge that One Mind as infinite and yield the willful human mind to God’s sweet direction and harmonious resolutions.

We know our Soul-sense is at work for us when we feel that sense of peace and freedom that such intuitions must necessarily bring. The impersonal and yet so individually right thoughts that come to us as we listen faithfully, may or may not seem logical or realistic in a human sense. They may not meet the test of “pro” versus “con.”

Instead, these Soul-inspirations come of God, and therefore have no such limits upon them, no opinion to discourage them, and no negative side to them. They simply are right, and being right, they are true, reliable, and provable. As we stop the sense of a personal mind with its personal obstacles and weaknesses and intelligence, we can hear and feel these deep and true intuitions, that can never harm us or anyone and which bring us satisfaction, peace, and rest.

“Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” (Ephesians 6: 16)

Our protection against the attacks of materiality and its limits and lies, is our faith in the Truth. The reliance on and belief in God, good, the great I AM of all Life, gives us everything necessary to deflect evil’s accusations. As we know the omnipotent ever-presence of good, Truth, the insistent battering of the lies does not concern us and cannot paralyze us. Our trust is well-settled in God’s authority and goodness and purpose.

This “shield of faith” is our daily identification with God, our awareness of Him and of our own presence with Him. We can conscientiously realize the Principle that is infallibly loving, sustaining, and saving. We can actively draw close to that divine Principle of our Life that does not fear the taunts of material sense or evil purposes, because in that Truth our innocence is found and kept intact.

The fiery darts of mortal opinions, of false judgments, of the doom of time and circumstance, are quenched in this protective embrace, washed away in the refreshing reality of Love. Nothing can harm us, for our faith is well-placed. Our Father-Mother is faithful to us, and we are the faithful reflection of His infinite and perfect and safe and triumphant Life!

“Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 1: 2)

May your life be full of the awareness and expectation of grace. May you realize that your Father-Mother-God has blessed you infinitely with the tender power of His Love. May you know in your heart that Christ, that Truth of your own heritage as a child of God, has come to save you from limits and lies and to set you free to really live.

Do not forget the presence and activity of God’s grace. His unmerited and pure love for each of us is forever available, for divine Love simply must love. We are the blessed object of this perfect and unconditional Love and we must receive it with open arms, in the free spirit in which it is coming to us. Put no conditions on what God does not restrict. Don’t judge or qualify what God does not judge or qualify. Accept no less than what divine Life and Love bestow graciously and gracefully upon you, for God does not parcel out His good or withdraw it.

Grace is yours. It showers down continuously upon our grateful heads and opens wide our hearts to receive and to give more and more freely. Jesus showed us this, revealed the nature of His Father, our Father, and what that means: You are loved. You are cared for. You are blessed now and always with the grace that is the presence of infinite divine Love in your powerful, wonderful life!

“…nothing inharmonious can enter being, for Life is God.” (Science and Health, page 228)

Life is God. Existence, being, all that constitutes the experience of living, is God and His pure and perfect and limitless substance. In this Life, there is nothing destructive or deadly or unkind. Nothing that is unlike God can exist with Him and in Him. Life simply won’t abide something that would degrade or impair or infect it. This intact and spotless being is ours to live and enjoy.

No inharmonious thought or idea can get in. It is immediately detected and deflected by the divine Mind that knows Truth and in its Allness, abides no lies. Our life and our mind and our body are safe in God’s Life. We can claim this truth of our own being, and live that purity within us and around us, heaven untouched by hell.

In the same way that nothing can enter being that is not of God’s goodness and purpose, so can nothing right and good leave being. Nothing that is rightfully ours, that constitutes our nature and our wholeness, can be lost. We cannot lose our wisdom, our clarity, our mobility, our innocence. We cannot lose our peace. What God is, what Being truly is, cannot add or lose anything inharmonious. Harmony is its eternal nature, and we are its eternal expression!

“Every valley of sin must be exalted and every mountain of selfishness be brought low, that the highway of our God may be prepared in Science.” (Science and Health, page 61)

Our way is straight and easy and natural before us when we are obedient to the divine nature. The dark valleys that we seem to grope through must be elevated, our thought brought into line with that which is good and right for us and for all. We can’t continue in a false sense of ourselves and walk freely. That cloak of error, shame, ignorance, anger is too heavy and entirely unnecessary.

And we likewise can’t be true to our own identity and to God’s purpose when we uplift a personal and egotistical self, keep it always front and center, and make it responsible for either our triumph or our downfall. The mountaintop of personal success, selfish achievements at all costs or without heart, can never be a place of contentment or serenity. Our Life is Love and this Love is God. It must be obeyed.

This evening out of our perspective and purpose, this cleansing of that which is not in line with God’s goodness and Life and Love, is taking place. God’s purpose is that we express Him, the right and satisfying Life. This requires that we walk in His intention, without the sin that does not dignify us or the selfishness that does not bless us. God has a perfect way for us, and it is and can only be, His way.

“Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance.” (Psalms 32: 7)

Our being, our true nature, is safe in Spirit, that hiding place from the tempests and terrors and troubles of material experience.  Our real identity, our innocent and untarnished life, is always embraced in the Truth of it and loved into perpetual newness of Life and its possibilities.

God is preserving us at all times, even when we feel our lives are swinging out of control or that everything we fear is gaining on us. Even in those moments when we think we can’t feel God, good, or know the love that He feels for us, we can be assured by the fact that God knows it, and He is the very Source and circumference of our life as it truly is.

And God, Love, not only keeps us preserved in our original state of innocent lovableness and infinite opportunity, He also sings about it! He is constantly celebrating that which He has kept safely hidden, cherished, in the heart of His love. He is always rejoicing and declaring and protecting us with His delight in us. His song of approval chases every attacker away. His Love’s broadness encompasses the darkness so that all that remains is the light that is the brightness of our true lives–safe, serene, and ready to be claimed and lived. Let’s join in God’s song with our own grateful voices and graceful lives!

“The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him. The Lord will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.” (Psalms 37: 32-33)

The good that we do, that we are demonstrating and striving to know better, is a threat to evil and its false claim to power and presence. We may seem to be under attack for our righteousness, innocence, and love. We may feel this makes us sensitive to trouble and more likely to be subject to it. But this is truly not our fate.

Watch and love. Keep alert to the evil that wants to draw you into its dream, but even more, be alert to God, to His ability to keep safe and sure and pure that which is the very necessary expression of His own nature. This goodness that we know and love is founded in and grounded upon God. It is not a weak victim to opposition, ignorance, and hatred. This very Love that we reflect and prove makes us strong beyond measure.

Know yourself rightly and know God as your infinite, invincible Father. He is the Life that does not roll over for death, the Love that does not succumb to hate, the omnipresent good that does not make exceptions for evil. The world’s views, circumstances, and time cannot condemn the right idea to punishment and pain. The Truth has overcome the world, and has kept us held above the fray. We are safe. God is watching the righteous, and this truth is our safety and our victory.

“There are many devices in a man’s heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand.” (Proverbs 19: 21)

God’s direction, guidance, counsel, is reliable and unmoving. It is the law to all things and it does not roll over for human machinations and argument and opinions. The Truth is the self-sustaining infinite. It is that which is and which necessarily acts. It is clear and clean and simple, based on the Principle that God is All and that All is Love.

Individuals may seem to come to cross purposes or misunderstandings. They may be confused or resentful or fearing. These devices of a man’s heart may appear to be many and ever-changing. We may seem to live at the whim of moods, emotions, circumstances, but these accusations against our serenity cannot stand. The counsel of the Lord, His blessing and His law of goodness and immortal Life, can’t be shaken or lost, even temporarily.

And the good news is that this Truth lives in each of our hearts naturally. When we yield to this fact, we naturally conquer those flimsy and unattractive and unnecessary “devices” of human reasoning, opinion, and false and lowered expectations. God’s word is in our heart, and its simple sweetness is a power for us that we can always and immediately claim, feel, and live.

“As mortals give up the delusion that there is more than one Mind, more than one God, man in God’s likeness will appear, and this eternal man will include in that likeness no material element.” (Science and Health, page 191)

This simple fact claimed and accepted can bear witness to mountains moving in our lives. The truth of all truths is that there is and ever has been and ever will be only one Mind, and that one God. Hear and abide in this Principle. Anything that tries to defy that absolute law can’t prove the glories of Life that are readily, steadily available.

There are not many mortal minds, varied in thoughts and opinions and judgment and perspective. There is only one Mind, the perfect one. And it is always right, in agreement, and perfectly loving. Accepting this fact and trusting the divine law behind it, gives us the freedom to enjoy life and all its ever-present harmonies. We can yield to the incontestable wisdom of God and His right thinking, and give ourselves a break!

Let’s, with relief, let go of human analysis and the pondering of the motives of mortals, and release ourselves to the certainty of the One. The Mind that is God is always and already doing the right thing. This one and only power that we must worship and rely on is Love, Spirit. Acknowledging the truth of this Truth reveals the facts, rather than the lies, and we see ourselves as we really are–the ideas of a perfect and singular Mind, God, good, Love.

”Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the Lord thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.” (Isaiah 55:5)

Let your glorious light shine! Because we have called divine Love our God and been faithful to His Principle, we can’t help but be a bright beacon for others. We are made glorious through our acceptance of our true selves as sons and daughters of God. Our lives are revealed to be an accurate and active expression of His perfect nature, and this brilliance cannot be hidden.

So even those that have not known God, have not truly understood or felt the Truth of divine Love, will come unto you, will want what you have to offer, will want to join your party! Strangers to us and strangers to the Christ-message must run to the Truth. They can’t be deprived of it, and all nations and all mankind must come to know their unity, their oneness with each other because they are of one Principle, God, Love.

Everyone is naturally attracted to joy, life, and love. One can attempt to stay in the dark, but when a simple candle or a glaring spotlight shines, the darkness is lost, and God is seen to be there, bright with life and love. This is the Truth that we all must share freely and which must embrace the world in the bounty of harmony, goodness, and peace!
