“Then let God weigh me on a truly balanced set of scales. He will know and see my integrity.” (Job 31: 6, the Voice)

The world may judge us by appearances. We may judge ourselves by what we feel we’ve accomplished, compare ourselves to others, or rate and berate ourselves based on our past and its learning experiences.

But we would do better to seek a more balanced consideration. We can turn to God to show us who we really are. He is able to see past our egos and fears and to see into our hearts. God’s perfect Mind, His flawless judgment, sees us clearly. He can discern our true integrity and motives.

God can also see where we may be out of balance with our own highest selfhood, with the idea that He made. Instead of condemning us for this loss of spiritual poise, He helps us see what is weighing us down, and lifts that false sense of self away, cleanses us of what is not helping us shine and flourish.

God sees us truly and knows our real innocence. Whatever the world would say about us or what we may hold to, even cling to, as true about ourselves, is not allowed to remain in God’s scales. We must settle into balance with God’s purpose, and feel that true peace of being good, whole, loving, and beloved.

“Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness.” (Colossians 3: 16, Amplified Bible, Classic Edition)

Absorb the loving, saving message of the Christ. Consciously allow that already-present, always-active Truth, to be accepted into your mind and heart. Recognize the sweet reality of your oneness with God, good, and embrace it with gratitude and gusto.

This word of God which Jesus declared and demonstrated is constant and active. We always have this fact of being with us and in us. It is inherent in us for it is our heritage—one that is rich with life, with joy, with peace, with the powerful love of Love.

Let God’s word make its home in us. Let that Truth of us replace any long-held beliefs about life and about our own identity. Allow this good news to cast out and cancel out the sense of a damaging past or a fear-filled future. The Christ makes us new. It refreshes us with new energy and a vision of things as they really are—full of light and life, full of goodness and grace, rich with the rightness of reality.

“Be imitators of God in everything you do, for then you will represent your Father as his beloved sons and daughters.” (Ephesians 5:1, the Passion Translation)

We have it in us, innately, to think and act rightly. We are children of God, and we can naturally represent His nature, express His qualities, in our daily lives.

It behooves us to remember what we stand for. Do we walk through our world showing forth God’s light, representing Him and His goodness and love actively and thoughtfully? Do we think and behave like the sons and daughters of God in our interactions with others and even in the way we think about ourselves?

To be children of God means we have in us the holy purpose to perpetuate goodness and love, to be the radiance in dark places. When we succumb to darkness or perpetuate it, we are denying our Father-Mother. We are denying our true and most natural being.

So, let’s consciously do as God would have us do. This is not pretending to be something we aren’t. It is yielding to our real selfhood as the beloved and bringing that truth into everything we do—in the small tasks as well as the greater mission to bring light to the world.

“You have done so many wonderful things, had so many tender thoughts toward us, Eternal my God, that go on and on, ever increasing. Who can compare with You?” (Psalms 40: 5, the Voice)

God’s thoughts go on and on. His ideas continue to come forth as inspiration in our lives and gifts for our souls. Our God has brought us into being and is the Creator of all good. His creativity is without pause or end. We are on the receiving end of His goodness. We are also the very expression of it.

We can seek material sources and persons to help us find our way, to give us ideas, to save us from trouble. But no one compares with God. His light and wisdom transcend human knowledge and physical forms or forces. God is without an equal and always has been. He is invincible Truth and ever-present Love. This Truth and Love transcends all else and is forever active in us and for us.

Let’s awake to the good that God has done—the beauty, the life, the inspiration, the artistry, the joy—and remember that these things forever increase. God’s qualities have no limits, and they are continually at the point of expression, lovingly revealing new light for us, for our world.

“Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man, to bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.” (Job 33:29, 30)

We may feel that we spend a lot of time in the pit—feeling fearful, getting ourselves in trouble, making mistakes, feeling ashamed or in doubt.

But God doesn’t give up on us or leave us to climb out by ourselves. He continues to work with us, over and over again, bringing us new inspiration and new strength. God reveals to us what we most need in each moment to see and know and be. We can turn to God and expect Him to help us, to lift us up and out and into the light.

Each challenge may seem like it is our undoing. It may feel that we have tried God’s patience, or that we have lost patience ourselves. But there is always a rescue. There is always God’s Spirit coming to us to show us a life that is even better than what we knew before or what we hoped for. We can release ourselves to God’s enlightenment. We can turn from self-analysis, self-doubt, self-judgment—from self overall—and find our true identity in letting go.

Love is at the ready to lead us out, as it has before and ever will do, and to give us more occasions to feel that love ourselves and to share it generously with our world.

“Temporal life is a false sense of existence.” (Science and Health, p. 122)

A temporal existence is one that dwells in and focuses on the physical world, the body, and on the powers that seem to be—material laws, political powers, and governing forces based on persons and organizations.

A temporal life is also one that is measured by time. It means looking at life with a sense of limitation as well as finiteness. The temporal life both rushes us and squeezes us in. It keeps us fearful and pressed, and it makes us feel subject to forces outside of our own control and often without benevolence or understanding behind them.

But this temporal life is not our true life. It is a sense of existence. It is a belief in something that is ultimately not reality. True being is spiritual. The Truth of our lives is its eternal nature. Life, in God, in Truth, is timeless and under the control of spiritual, not material laws.

Let’s stop accepting the temporal—the fleeting, the limited, the unloving—as the reality we just have to live with. Instead, let’s awake to our immortal life, one that is free and fearless, forever expanding in light, not chased by time but transcending it with each new day of God’s good Life.

“If your faith remains strong, even while surrounded by life’s difficulties, you will continue to experience the untold blessings of God! True happiness comes as you pass the test with faith, and receive the victorious crown of life promised to every lover of God!” (James 1: 12, the Passion Translation)

Be a lover of God! Be a conscious lover of Truth and Life, of Love and goodness. Persevere in this joyous trust and the expectation it brings.

Of course, it can be challenging to sustain our faith when things seem dark or difficult, when we are confronted with trials or see ugliness in our world. But if we remember what we truly believe in—that our faith isn’t blind but is an awareness and love of what is good—then we can feel the effects of this reliance.

And then even a small reminder of what we love keeps us strong. It reveals that behind a little glimmer of light, is the full sunlight of Truth, of God’s glory at hand with us and for us.

So, we endure not by human will but by yielding to God’s tender power, which not only sustains us, but is our very life, that crown of joy and the presence of peace.

“The fact that Truth overcomes both disease and sin reassures depressed hope.” (Science and Health, page 420)

We have a solid reason to hope. We can allow ourselves to let go of the doubts and skepticism, the gloom and doom that the world would want us to accept, and receive hope, expectation, healing.

Truth overcomes the challenges that would face us. The Truth of God and of man defies the lies of evil and danger, of the mistakes of self and the accusations against our life and its well-being. The lie has no power to change this Truth, and we can choose to stop agreeing with its unlovely premises and conclusions.

Truth is on our side, on the side of good, on the side of our thriving, glowing, joyous lives. Let yourself be assured and reassured. Remember that the power is in the eternal facts and that—just as Jesus did and so many to follow him—we can see the Truth in action, setting us free.

Take heart! Let Truth lift you out of depression and fear and into hope which opens the door to the light of saving reality!

“Harmony in man is as beautiful as in music, and discord is unnatural, unreal.” (Science and Health, page 304)

You are a beautiful song. Your very being expresses as glorious a melody as the most masterful music, the kind that makes a heart swell and a soul tingle with awe.

Your natural state is harmony. Every aspect of your being is concordant, with a perfect rhythm that feels vital yet comfortable. Nothing about you is out of alignment. Nothing is dissonant or at odds. The reality of man individually and collectively is harmonious. This is the way God made us, and we can’t ever be out of tune with His purpose, His vision, His loving qualities.

Mortal opinions may promote a belief that imperfection and discord is natural in man and in the universe. But the opposite is the Truth. Harmony is the law of God, and this harmony can’t be lost. God, the perfect Mind, continues to sustain it, down to the last note, the final refrain, the ultimate crescendo of our eternal Life.

“…see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:” (I Peter 1: 22)

Let’s do this! Let’s just make this brief but powerful admonition a living reality. Let’s share God’s love with one another honestly, earnestly, deliberately.

We can choose to do this. And when we do, we will not only bring light and comfort and uplift to others, we will also find this genuine joy ourselves. We will feel God’s love within us and reflected back at us.

To love with a pure heart means our love comes without resentment. We don’t love grudgingly or with an ulterior motive. We are not loving toward someone but doing it in order to receive something or to prove something. A pure love is God’s love shining through us. This real love is pure because it is unclouded with ego. It is free and easy and clear and sweet.

Likewise, we can be fervent in this love—passionate, enthusiastic, showing great warmth or intensity of spirit. A love like this is vital. It moves individuals and mountains.

Expressing this pure and fervent love to one another can brighten our world and bring out powerful goodness, reveal harmony.

Let’s just do it!
