Daily Inspiration, March 7th

“Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God’s unerring direction and thus bring out harmony.” (Science and Health, page 424)

If we observe life around us with our material senses, we must admit that there seems to be a lot of randomness—accidents, weather disasters, unexpected deaths and acts of violence out of nowhere. The world can seem a very dangerous place and life in general to be completely unpredictable and often out of control.

To find our peace and to bring that consciousness of it to others is to take a different view of things, a spiritual one. God does not know or create or condone accidents. He doesn’t allow chance to sneak in on His perfect design and cause it to go out of balance, to lose its inherent foundation, the law of Love. We need to get our thoughts above the distracting and disturbing sense of randomness, and rest in what Mind knows about His creation—peace, harmony, unity, stability, control.

Allowing fear and even paranoia to overtake our thinking and our behavior does not bring healing. It only feeds mortal mind with more qualities of instability and uncertainty and confusion and attention. Clarity of mind comes with our trust of God’s Principle, abiding in what is sure and permanent and real, rather than in the nature of an elusive evil. We can take hold on what is firm and reliable, that which is not swayed by the winds of emotion or the winds of nature. God is keeping us safe. Know this and live with joyous expectation, not fear, ready to be surprised only by God’s right and timely revelation of His goodness and love.

Daily Inspiration, March 5th

“Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:” (John 17: 20, 22)

Jesus was praying for you. His loving consciousness of God and His purpose called him to pray that all be embraced in this awareness–those in his immediate presence and those whose calling would come at other ends of the world and in centuries to come. He wanted all to know the powerful grace that he himself felt from our Father-Mother-God.

Jesus loved to pray. He loved to give himself over to the word of God in each moment, listening for the right answer, the right direction, the highest standard and most loving purpose. He knew that this prayer was not a calling out to a god in the distance. He knew it was a sweet and tender consciousness of the God with whom he was always at one, the closest and most immediate presence that he could know or feel.

So his prayer came straight from the heart of God. He shared this message with us: that God’s glory was meant for us all to embrace and celebrate. He shared with his disciples then and today that we are united in God, in the Love that is never divided, localized, or lost. He prayed for those who believe in the Christ, in that truth that we are all the sons and daughters of God, brothers and sisters, worthy of prayer, worthy of healing, worthy of the glory of our divine heritage and capable in our mission of love.

Daily Inspiration, February 28th

“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.” (Psalms 37: 7)

It is so easy to get caught up in what evil another has done toward us. It is alluring to stay focused on how they have misunderstood us, betrayed us, deserted us, caused us shame or loss. And yet, by doing so we are giving to the one we believe caused us harm our attention, a manner of worship. Our sweet and innocent mind has lost its well-deserved high altitude and experience, to cavort with sinners, so to speak.

Rest in the Lord. Be patient with His ability to right all things. Stay faithful to your own innocence by loving God enough to trust Him and to bring justice, and most importantly, peace. Don’t lose your life in the contemplation of your hurt. You are investing that error, that evil, and its perpetrator with your focus, with your thought, which has power when focused on good. Does the evil really deserve this much of our precious time?

We must give God the day. We must stay faithful to our trust in His perfect design, knowing that in it, no transgression against goodness is allowed to stand, and every one must come to know Him, good, from the least of us to the greatest. The evil-doer also must come into accord with Principle, Love. Let’s not put off for a moment our beautiful life by fretting about others’ wrong-doing. Your blessing comes from God, and so it is always full and unadulterated. No man can take that away from you. So relax, and claim the fullness and active presence of good, and feel the freedom that comes of a Mind that is totally filled with Love.

Daily Inspiration, February 26th

“And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and ye shall be my people.” (Leviticus 26: 12)

This is the assuring message from a God Who is divine Love. There is no distance to this God. There is no separateness between His purpose, His goodness, His presence, and each of His ideas, His children. This God that is the One and Only, walks among us, touches us with His tenderness, tickles us with His happiness, expresses right where we are the pure fullness of His Love.

We are God’s people. He has claimed us and remains with us. His Truth abides in our lives, preserving us and leading us. We are not waiting for Him to show His face, or for us to gain access to His throne of heaven. He is not separate from His creation. He is in it, abides with it. God, good, is the very essence and quality of all life. He is also our Father-Mother and our faithful best friend.

God is Spirit. This spiritual nature does not separate Him from us, but brings Him nearer. Spirit transcends the limits of matter and is always present giving this moment all that He’s got—all the Truth, Life, Love that there is at the very place where we are. He necessarily constitutes the condition of our own being. God as Spirit is our intimate companion here and now. At the same time He is the place where we are going and the only place we have ever been. Divine Love walks with each of us today and we all walk together in the Love that never fails to save and to bless.

Daily Inspiration, February 21st

“The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.” (Psalms 19: 7)

God’s law is active. It is profound in its infinite wisdom and yet it is also easily accessible to all. The law of perfect Love is perfectly loving. Its power is always for good, enforcing that which is right and true and satisfying, and barring anything that would oppose this intention.

The law of God has no flaws in it and no exceptions to it. This loving Principle spans the universe and holds all in gracious control, feeding each idea with its daily bread and keeping perfect rhythm, perfect harmony, absolute accord. This divine design of goodness is sure, confident, unquestionable, and its testimony is true; it is proven in the very life that you are living, the perfection of your being held intact, whole, just right.

We can gratefully give up the anxious straining for knowledge, pushing away inspiration by our disbelief that we could have enough intelligence or goodness to understand or deserve it. The simplicity of your thought—the clean and clear readiness to be taught–brings instruction to your door, every idea that you need made lovingly apparent. The wisdom of the mighty God is supplied to each of us, revealing the fact that we are forever already at one with all that we need, with our Truth, moment by moment. This is our right and our rest, our natural and lovely peace of mind.

“…for all men have not faith. But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.” (II Thessalonians 3: 2-3)

Men may fail, but God is always His perfect Principle, Love. He is always faithfully Himself, and this is our assurance of harmony, peace, progress. We shouldn’t let the behavior of others–their unreliability, ignorance, and even their human betrayals– trouble us preoccupy us. We have a firm foundation: a trustworthy One Who is always reliable and is always righteous, right.

Turn away from the opinions and actions of men, and let God show you your natural and always available peace. His Love doesn’t waver. It doesn’t get confused or emotional. It doesn’t misjudge things or make unfair assumptions. It doesn’t lapse into neglect or play games with us. God is true, for He is Truth; and that Truth is always infinite Love, that which faithfully fills all space, acts generously and tenderly and powerfully right where you are.

You always have God in your corner. You always have His conscientious devotion to what is right and true. He is faithful to His own perfect character, His holy goodness. He will never change or vary in His nature or in the nature of His focused care for you. He will always be the All-in-all Who is perfect, present, unconditional, trustworthy, honest, invariable Love.

Daily Inspiration, February 14th

“Happiness is spiritual, born of Truth and Love. It is unselfish; therefore it cannot exist alone, but requires all mankind to share it.” (Science and Health, page 57)

Our true happiness is found in God. He has created us to be happy, content, and He maintains this joy through the ever-presence of His qualities with us and in us. Our only and forever true love will always be God’s love for us. We express that same true loving naturally as we realize the generous and uninterrupted Source of that Love that is love.

God’s Love is lasting, pure, unconditional, unbiased, non-judgmental. It is not disturbed or influenced by human history, bad experiences, upbringing, and the idiosyncrasies of personality. God’s Love is the love that is always on our side and never has and never will leave us. Because of the depth, permanence, and broadness of this love, the whole world is necessarily enveloped in it and united by it.

This is true happiness. To realize the presence of Love always and already with you and in you, the very substance of you, and to recognize that its abundance is there for you to share. It is not a love founded on need or false desire. Divine Love’s love simply must love, must be expressed, and rejoices in doing that. This happiness is spiritual, born of God, of Love and of Truth, and it never fails. As we accept it and utilize it, we feel its activity. We know that we always remain on the receiving end of it, for Love is always seeing and knowing and consciously approving of its own beautiful expression.

Have a happy Valentine’s Day, all you lovely, lovable, beloved lovers!

Daily Inspiration, February 12th

“Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.” (Philippians 2: 3)

It’s all about love–respect, true awareness, and selflessness. It’s about approaching all that we do with the intention of valuing another with more thought and loving care than we would ourselves. It means we give up with grateful joy that drive to compete for our good, prove ourselves better than everyone else, and to judge others as less deserving.

Striving for achievement and recognition without regard for others is never going to get us true success and the honest contentment we deserve. Love is the law, the power, the reason. The thought focused too much on self is always missing an opportunity to utilize that wonderful love that is truly so natural to us–an active love that is not only healing but also the true mark of and method for our success. To love selflessly is to be our true selves, and it shows our devotion to God. It gives up the human will that would so often lead us into disappointment and gloom, and releases us to God’s loving intention.

Let’s be humble in our approach to life. Let’s recognize each other as God’s own ideas, and honor all men as better than ourselves—more deserving of our goodness, our affection, our generosity. This doesn’t mean that we are to demean ourselves, to believe that we are not really as good as another. What it does mean is that by our genuine goodness and loving-kindness, we prove without argument that we are truly sons and daughters of God, the offspring of that divine Love which always fully, unconditionally, impartially loves us, one and all.

Daily Inspiration, February 7th

“Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.” (Exodus 23: 20)

You will not have to get there on your own. Not only has God prepared a perfect place for you, the right and satisfying opportunity, home, relationship, situation, creative endeavor; He has given you a guide.

God’s angel, His inspired and loving words of wisdom and direction, will lead you. This angel-thought will assure, re-direct, tell you when to pause and when it is safe to go forward. Not one step in your journey, your revealed way, will be on your own, out in the cold. You will never be left without a touchstone, an angel to remind you what is important and why, and to keep you both focused and restful.

Welcome in your angel. God knows where you belong, what that place looks like, and why it must satisfy you and those you are meant to bless. You can’t go wrong when you trust God and the fact of His nearness, His representative angel, that clear and loving guidance that knows who you are, what you need, and just how to show you the way. Your place is prepared. It is just right. Go your merry way, day by day, with your angel by your side, and sometimes skipping ahead, beckoning you on into satisfaction, productivity, and peace.

Daily Inspiration, February 5th

“The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.” (Psalms 25: 9)

God’s guidance is flawless and available. His instruction is natural to understand and to utilize in our lives. His wisdom is wonderful, precise, healing, saving, complete. We will find no better information or method of discernment than yielding to the perfect word of God’s loving, individual direction.

Meekness is much needed. Without it, we can’t clearly hear what is right and pure and good for us and for all. Pride and human will would attempt to overtake our natural meekness, our humble willingness to hear the good news that the mortal mind might dispute or what mere human intelligence would argue against.

To be meek is not only to be humble, but it is also to be gentle. It is to be patient and sweet-tempered. This does not mean that we are spineless or weak or victims. It means, on the contrary, that we gather our strength from God’s presence and power; that we are quiet enough in thought and word that we can hear the better way, the nobler one, and that ideal which is most healing for all. Give up the push to be pushy, strong-willed, and self-righteous, and embrace the power of meekness. With it, your innate beauty will shine forth and your life will mirror that in its true loveliness, contentment, and grace.
