Daily Inspiration, September 4th

“Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.” (Luke 6: 21)

Be ready for your blessings. Don’t for a moment think that despair, disappointment, need, or grief is your cross to bear. We are given a promise. You shall be blessed and, in fact, already are.

Your Father-Mother loves you perfectly and completely—always has and always will. Even in your doubt and in your sadness, divine Love is actively with you. And God’s tenderness goes beyond simply meeting the need, as Jesus’s words here remind us. We receive even more than we might now expect.

The hungering thought not only gets fed, it gets filled. That dear one who seems in need of spiritual sustenance and necessary substance in life, will receive enough to feel full and satisfied, enough, perhaps, even to give to others. Likewise, the one who weeps, who mourns a loss literally or grieves over human experiences and self-doubt, will do more than simply smile again or have a moderate peace. That very one will laugh!

The belief overcome through God’s love gives us a truly rich reward. Know this and allow that blessing to come in—to spread out Soul’s full feast before you and to cause you to naturally and freely and fully and gratefully and heartily rejoice!

Daily Inspiration, September 2nd

“He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters. He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me. They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the Lord was my stay.” (Psalms 18: 16-18)

We can’t do it alone. The opposition often seems much bigger than we are, its daunting presentations and predictions mesmerizing and overwhelming. The enemy to our good lives can appear strong and vicious, and we ourselves feel weak and victimized.

But, there is always God with us. He is ready to bring us His angel inspirations from on high and His perfect and strong and changeless Principle as our stay, our sure and steady foundation. Our God is Love, and Love saves from hate, from the darkness that would bury us and the accusations that would cage us in fear and doubt. God is not weak or worried. He is established Omnipotence, believing no lies about His idea, and ready to raise us up to see what He sees.

You are never in a pitiable state. You are always in a perfect place for a rescue, for a divine conquering of evil, and a victorious overcoming not only of the trouble that would tempt you to believe, but also of the fear that would keep you from seeing your freedom at hand. You are not weak, but you are humble and ready for God. You are poised for Love’s Christ to come to you, and to show you tenderly but with firm confidence, that you are never overpowered because God will always keep you with Him—safe, sound, and at peace.

Daily Inspiration, August 28th

“Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.” (Isaiah 54: 4)

Those bad memories, the regrets and grief, the losses of opportunity and of dignity, are not yours to carry for eternity. They are not worthy of daily rumination nor are they obstacles to your peace. God promises a brand new day.

Don’t be afraid. You are not stuck with yesterday’s events any more than you are required to hang on to yesterday’s newspapers. Don’t be afraid of what’s gone before. Likewise, don’t utilize those mistakes or challenges of days gone by as excuses to be less than who you are and to live a less glorious Life.

God is granting you complete absolution every day. He is calling you to let go of the past, to be ready to accept His guidance for life going forward—grateful for all the good that has come into your experience, but without going into perpetual mourning over it. It is time to take off the widow’s weeds, the dark cloak that hides your promise and potential. There is nothing to be ashamed of. You and your life are always redeemable because God’s Love has never been conditional.

Don’t be afraid and don’t overthink. Just let God lead you forward and onward. All the good will stay with you, as it always has, and your cleansed mind will have room to entertain new angels, Life’s goodness ripe for today!

Daily Inspiration, August 26th

“You’re familiar with the old written law, ‘Love your friend,’ and its unwritten companion, ‘Hate your enemy.’ I’m challenging that. I’m telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst…In a word, what I’m saying is, Grow up. You’re kingdom subjects. Now live like it. Live out your God-created identity. Live generously and graciously toward others, the way God lives toward you.” (Matthew 5:43, 48, Message Bible)

You aren’t always going to get treated as well as you deserve. You are very likely going to come across people that make you feel angry or hurt. Human behavior is variable and flawed. It may present a picture of individuals who merit your hatred, resentment, and who seem to invite your contempt or at the very least strong disagreement.

But Jesus is telling us here, according to this translation, that we need to grow up. It is not about how others act, it is about how we act and how we think. It’s easy to be loving and understanding toward people with common viewpoints and genial personalities. But we must and can take love to higher level and one which is much more healing. To live out our “God-created identity;” to honor Him and the infinite measure of His Love toward us, we must be expansive with our own love.

And in this way our “enemies” do bring out the best in us, not the worst. When we yield to this higher and broader sense of Love, we are uplifted ourselves. By seeing past human behavior to the fact of God’s true man, the one He created and loves, we are able to be more like Him, be more powerful in good and more free and happy.

Let’s take up this challenge. Let’s recognize that lack of love is never justified, nor is love ever beyond your capacity. God is Love. You are the reflection of His Love. It is infinitely more natural to love, to forgive, and to feel free of anger than it is to hate and to resent and to do mental battle against those we don’t agree with. We can do better. We can grow up enough to take the high road, beginning with our thinking, and simply love all, no matter what, because it blesses others but also because it will surely bless us as well.

Daily Inspiration, August 21st

“Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” (Psalms 61: 1-2)

We have a rescue. There is a power that we can call upon and claim when things seem overwhelming and we can’t get our bearings. No matter how far away from good we feel, God is always right where we are; ready to respond with grace, guidance, and peace. Even the inspired psalmist, who praised God often and poetically, was faced with crises, and confusion. Yet he was perhaps clear enough only to know where he must turn.

When our hearts are overwhelmed, when we feel emotional, alone, confused, disappointed, afraid, we can find our escape in God. We can let ourselves be lifted to that rock that is higher than we are, higher than the ego that would claim so much worry, doubt, and lack of peace. We can escape that sense of self that feels vulnerable and mortal for that Christ-Truth of our being—the rock that is the divine Mind, the one powerful and true Mind, the Ego that is always right and clear and real.

Our prayer is a release from a self-perspective to a God-perspective. It is giving up that personal sense that would try to separate us from good and from that heart of Love that is never overwhelmed but always full, loving, safe, clear, and at peace.

No matter where we seem to be, we are truly always in God’s loving presence. We can call upon Him at any time. We can let Him lead us to His healing, assuring, triumphant rock, the saving grace of divine Love.

Daily Inspiration, August 19th

“You must submit to and endure [correction] for discipline; God is dealing with you as with sons. For what son is there whom his father does not [thus] train and correct and discipline? Now if you are exempt from correction and left without discipline in which all [or God’s children] share, then you are illegitimate offspring and not true sons [at all].” (Hebrews 12: 7-8, Amplified Bible)

The nature of God’s love for us includes some necessary correction. We can’t go along doing the wrong thing, thinking or acting out of line with what is the highest right, and expect to get away with it. This is not punishment. It is your Father’s great love for you being expressed.

So we should not be ashamed when this disciplining comes, these various wake-up calls, both gentle and strong. The correcting comes because we are children of the divine One, and this Parent wants us to be well, happy, successful, wise. This Parent wants us to feel fully and express freely the very substance of what She knows is so right and healing. We are being taught about true Love by the greatest expert on this subject–divine Love itself.

Listen and receive this chiding without self-justification or self-pity, and also without fear. God shows us what we are doing wrong so we can give it up for the better way. He isn’t holding it against us. He is, just as a father, instructing us out of our ignorance and showing us not only how to be better, but why being better is really just being our true selves as sons and daughters of God. And this natural selfhood is so freeing, healing, and satisfying.

Daily Inspiration, August 14th

“…love one another as if your lives depended on it.” (I Peter 1: 22, Message Bible)

That is quite a request! Doesn’t this give us a real sense of urgency? Can’t we see in this demand to the Christians of old that loving one another was not a secondary thing, or one to be done less than fully or consistently?

Jesus gave us these two great commandments: to love God and to love one another. These were his two big rules and the ones which were back of all the healing work that he did and the way in which he lived. These two divine laws honored and obeyed brought Jesus the resurrection and showed us–by his utilization of this necessary obedience to Love–everlasting Life, and the way to realize this in our own experience.

So, remember that loving is the first thing you do. It is your breath, it is your water, it is your waking purpose and the last thought before you go to sleep. This mandate for our lives is not one that is difficult. It is God’s own Love which we are naturally reflecting. It is cherishing that great sustenance that divine Love gives us daily, hourly, minute by minute, and spreading that Love abundantly because we have such an abundance of it to share.

Love with powerful divine energy. Love with abandon. Love with the freedom that is not about needing a response, but simply because feeling and expressing love is as natural and wonderful as taking a deep breath of fresh air. It is that life-giving, thrilling, and yet so peaceful act of drawing on the healing inspiration of God and exhaling in a song of love.

Daily Inspiration, August 12th

“You used to be like people living in the dark, but now you are people of the light because you belong to the Lord. So act like people of the light and make your light shine.” (Ephesians 5: 8-9, Contemporary English Version)

We’ve seen the light. We’ve had the radiance of God’s Truth glow within our hearts and serve as a beacon on our way. We’ve had our eyes opened to harmonious reality right where discord had seemed so real. We’ve recognized the true Word as that which feels natural to us, that ideal of Life and Love that just agrees with our innermost desires.

This light is a torch for us to bear into the world, to guide and warm others, to show them by example that there is good news and it belongs to all. Most of us have had periods of living in the darkness of ignorance or pride or fear. We’ve listened but not really heard or accepted. We’ve been shadows on our own goodness with own self-judgment and ego. So, we know the difference between darkness and light. We know why we are in fact blessed.

So, don’t let timidity or self-doubt keep you from acting like the enlightened soul that you are. Not only is your light too big to keep within a box of self, it is also easier squelched when it isn’t serving its purpose. The light is Love. Love needs to be shared. It needs to be celebrated. It has to be utilized in order to multiply.

And that light needs to be kept pure as well. This loving and healing presence we cherish is one which not only has compassion for others, but also true respect for them and for the fact that they already have the light within as well; they just may need your light to help find that switch and turn it on!

Daily Inspiration, August 7th

“The Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” (I Samuel 16: 7)

God does not judge by outward appearances. He doesn’t look at the ideas He made spiritually and evaluate them physically. There are a variety of ways that men and woman may appear to the physical senses or seem to be characterized on the outside. Human sense may be quick to judge one based on the way that he acts around us, what choices he has made, how he dresses, or how he looks.

But man is not so limited as to be what the senses testify to. We ourselves as well as others are not confined within a definition that is so small and shallow. God’s eyes are more perceptive and His Love more discerning. God looks on the heart of man. He sees the pure sense of each idea He has made. He knows the child and His innocence. He knows the man and His right desire to be better. He knows each of us intimately and this is the Truth of us.

Should we not see as God sees and know as He knows? Shouldn’t we, more importantly, love as He loves—without outward judgments, but with an easy and natural embrace of what is true, what He Himself made to be lovable? We certainly can’t get into a person’s heart, but we can be pure in our own heart. We can be so full of love within that that genuine goodness reaches beyond the surface of human judgment, and simply yet powerfully and gratefully, loves.

Daily Inspiration, August 5th

“To calculate one’s life-prospects from a material basis, would infringe upon spiritual law and misguide human hope.” (Science and Health, page 319)

Our life-prospects are so much grander than we think. Calculating what our life is, was, or will be from a material basis is necessarily disappointing. Matter is always limiting and it is usually pretty much of a downer! Finiteness boxes us in and gives us a sentence, if not for today, somewhere down the road.

How often do we think we have missed our chance, that the best is over, or that we will never accomplish this thing because of our age, our personality, our experiences, other people, etc., etc. Isn’t this view depressing and doesn’t it even make our present moment shadowed and heavy and full of apathy or at the very least, lethargic?

Spiritual law has an entirely different plan for you and it is one that starts with satisfaction and joy and ends with an expanded sense of that! Don’t let a material sense of what life is, was, or could be, dash your hopes for something wonderful. A spiritual calculation will lead you to a much better conclusion–one which excites, energizes, and opens the heart, the thought, and the eyes to blessings beyond what we can imagine.

Life was not meant to fit into a box. Life is God, Spirit, and His activity is broad and infinite and ever revealing more and more goodness. This is your Life. And no, it won’t look just like everyone else’s. The greatness of God has countless ideas and you get to live the best one, the one crafted just for you—today, tomorrow, and forever!
