“But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts].” (Galatians 5: 16, Amplified Bible)

We all may feel at times like we don’t know what to do. We fear we will do the wrong thing or perhaps our past makes us believe we are prone to bad thoughts and actions.

We don’t have to agree with this state of being, full of concern and fear, of doubt and confusion. Instead, we can choose to listen to God’s guidance and to respond to it. We can conscientiously make it a point to watch our thoughts and let God—perfect wisdom and pure Love—reveal what is right for us in this moment and going forward.

It takes some discipline to walk in this light, to be receptive to the Truth at hand for us. But as we get used to doing it, and see how much freer we begin to feel, it gets easier. This listening walk becomes a habit, something that we do each day because it has become a part of life, just as natural as washing our face or brushing our teeth each morning. We do it because it is essential to our day. This habitual walk with God leads us to daily comforts, wise decisions, and new horizons to explore with grace and gratitude.

“Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper—it only leads to harm.” (Psalms 37: 8, New Living Translation)

Amen! Let’s stop being angry at others, at the world, at ourselves. Let’s take a pause to recognize even those subtle disturbances within that may not be expressed but may simmer beneath the surface.

We can and must stay calm and discover that true peace that’s ours to both feel and share. Anger may feel justified, and at times it may seem to temporarily make us feel better. Our outrage puts the blame on others and makes us feel innocent. Our temper is a reaction that feels like action, but, in truth, it isn’t constructive or helpful in situations, nor does it honor us and who we really are.

Turn from your rage, this verse tells us. And this means we must turn toward something else. Not toward pity or fear or frustration, but toward God. Toward Love. This is trust in the goodness that is truly operating for us and all. This release to God settles us and brings resolution. It is a healing perspective. Anger leads to harm. It stirs us up and makes us ill at ease as well as causing trouble around us. Anger opposes peace, which is God and His true harmonious government.

Let’s do ourselves a mighty favor and help our world thrive as well. Let’s stop being angry. Let’s be alert, but unclouded by rage. Let’s be ready to bring more light and the power of peace to our lives and to our world.

“And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you: To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father.” (I Thessalonians 3: 12-13)

This blessing is rich with promise. We can be ready to receive God’s bounty, His influx of inspiration and goodness, grace and wisdom. This great gift of God’s Love, received in our hearts, helps us to progress, to be productive, to make a difference, and to be and to feel truly successful.

God’s Love causes us to love one another. And this love for others—those near to us and those that may be distant in space or in their beliefs—brings meaning to our lives and healing to our experiences. The reception of God’s ever-present Love and the sharing of it through our thoughts and actions awakens us to our own true nature.

And this recognition of our true selfhood is a release from fear and self and the behavior that is based on these errors. This acceptance of Love grounds us in goodness, and finds us not only free of guilt, but unblameable—innocent and out of range of accusations and the fear of them.

Love reveals our true holiness and wholeness. Love is our true being, and God’s Love in us is without end, always ready to be shared and received, with healing as a natural and beautiful result.

“The deepest pains may linger through the night, but joy greets the soul with the smile of morning.” (Psalms 30: 5, the Voice Translation)

The nights can seem long when we are struggling with a challenge. Those dark times of our lives may feel as if they will never cease, that this is our reality.

That feeling can be overwhelming. It perpetuates fear and stokes its flames. We sink into a despair that is mesmerizing and depleting. We may find ourselves turning away from hope, from help, from others.

But the smile of morning is not distant! The sunlight of Truth and Love is always ready to return to us, because we were made by God to express His light, to live a Life that shows forth His qualities. Joy lives in us, and it can’t help but see the light of day.

Knowing this, holding to this promise, we begin to see glimmers of light, signs of God’s presence, and so we break that mesmerism of doubt and gloom. The tears and trials begin to feel more flimsy, less real and powerful, and we find a strength in knowing the dawn is on its way.

The darkness is not our lot in life. We are children of light, and the dawn will break anew in our hearts and in our lives! Love’s healing light is with you, around you, in you. It truly is. Joy is near and yours to feel anew.

“…this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.” (I John 3:11)

This is the primary tenet that Jesus preached to his followers. He taught his disciples from the very beginning to love one another. This was more than promoting nice behavior. It was essential to Jesus’ mission, the one that his students would perpetuate.

Jesus knew that if one was to prove the presence and power of God—His supremacy—one needed to be obedient to His nature. And God’s nature is Love. To love one another is to express God, to genuinely obey and honor Him, by being like Him.

And this love of God and of one another is truly natural to us. It is not who we should be, but who we are. Loving one another is indeed the ‘message that ye heard from the beginning’—from our very origin. It has always lived in our hearts. So, love isn’t something we try to do, hope to do. We love one another by remembering that Truth, remembering who we truly are as the very children of Love itself.

Let’s cherish this great privilege we have to show forth God’s nature. By loving one another we are able to help others, to bring healing to our world, and to feel more alive and at peace ourselves.

“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11: 28-29, New Living Translation)

Jesus is offering rest, relief, peace, comfort through the Christ. We can release those heavy burdens of responsibility, guilt, resentment, fear, anxiety and discover the freedom of trust in God, good.

The Christ that gives us rest is that consciousness of God-with-us, of our inseparability from Almighty Truth, Life, and Love, and of our own identity as children of God, as the very expression of His perfect qualities and holy purpose.

Jesus called us to cast off those burdens and find freedom by following his example. And it was his humble gentleness that would bring this rightful rest for our souls. It is through a heart that is not full of self, but open and tender, loving and receptive, that we can lose those heavy loads of care, and find peace.

So, let yourself be taught by God. Let yourself listen, daily, for His instruction and direction. We can rely on God for what is needed each moment and trust His control over all. We can come to Christ—willingly draw close to God and His Truth about our natural freedom as children of light.

“I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” (John 14: 18)

We all have times when we feel without comfort. Perhaps, right now, peace is eluding you, rest seems out of reach.

Let’s accept this promise. Let’s be willing to drop our doubts and fears and to let the Christ come into our hearts and minds, into our very being. For while Jesus departed the human scene many centuries ago, the great Truth-teller promised that the Comforter would come to us—to you.

For this Truth is the ever-presence of God, of divine Love, always right where we are, to be felt and known. Jesus proved this. Our oneness with God means the very quality and action of perfect Love is with us always. We can’t be separated from this glorious goodness, and all this means.

You are worthy of comfort, and you are ready for it. And our merciful, tender, powerful Father-Mother God is ready to show us this comfort, to release us from anguish and pain, and let us rest in the awareness that we are not alone, that we are spiritual, that we are fully and unceasingly loved.

The Christ is the awareness of God ever revealing itself. This Christ, our Comforter, is not a person or a material remedy or a certain place or situation. It is the grace of God embracing us in reality, awakening us from any nightmarish beliefs to feel the arms of living, healing Love.

“‘You will not succeed by your own strength or by your own power. The power will come from my Spirit,’ says the Lord of heaven’s armies.” (Zechariah 4: 6, International Children’s Bible)

Our success is not reliant on our own strength or ingenuity. We don’t truly win or make significant progress through personal human efforts. To think that we are responsible for our growth and for the overcoming that may be necessary, is to burden ourselves. To believe that we are personally capable of mighty victory is egotistical.

The Truth is that God empowers us, guides us, directs us. His omnipotence and perfect wisdom are both our release from worry and our reason for rejoicing. Humility naturally lifts us up; for when we lose self, we find God with His Love, ready to show us the better way, the one that is right and healing.

Spirit, not physical might or mental anguish, is where true power comes from. Heaven’s armies are those bold yet gentle divine ideas that promote harmony, peace, and freedom. Let’s rely on that Spirit—God’s infinite, available, goodness—to lead us forward. And let’s be grateful that we’re always on the winning side with God.

“You, Lord, are my shepherd. I will never be in need. You let me rest in fields of green grass. You lead me to streams of peaceful water, and you refresh my life.” (Psalms 23: 1-3, Contemporary English Version)

We can learn to trust. We can let go of the feelings of control or lack of it and allow ourselves to rest. We can receive with willingness the beautiful images that are presented in this verse and accept what they are describing just for us, today.

We are never in need. Our Shepherd is God, the Creator and Provider, the One Who never fails to be with us, for us, loving us without measure. This means we can lay down on that green grass—in a place of fresh promise, of plush newness, of comfort. We can gently go forth toward the streams of life and find them peaceful, easy to approach, and full of new refreshment and energy.

God lets us rest. We are not required to be in charge, to constantly produce and prove and personally show ourselves worthy. The Shepherd doesn’t need this. We are already His beloved ones, and He is showing us, each moment, when we are humbly obedient.

So, for the lamb, life is not a burden. It is a joyful release of fear and responsibility for a grateful trust in a life that is guided, safe, cherished, and full of new opportunities to feast as well as frolic!

“The depth, breadth, height, might, majesty, and glory of infinite Love fill all space. That is enough!” (Science and Health, page 520)

There is nothing more powerful, more wonderful, more healing than divine Love! God’s Love as Cause and expression means tangible blessings for all. Where active Love is, there can’t be hate, fear, discord. There is, instead, comfort, peace, joy, confidence, well-being—Life!

As we recognize and consciously accept that Love is infinite, as this quote reminds us, we can feel the goodness that Love has for us. God’s Love is almighty. God’s Love is measureless. God’s Love can’t be confined. God’s Love is full, complete, precise. It is gentle, yet powerful. It is tenderly touching us, knowing us, showing us who we truly are as the children and image of God’s own glory.

The infinitude of Love is enough! We can know this fact, really cherish the all-encompassing, ever-present nature of Love. There really isn’t anything else we need to know. This Truth is freeing, healing, saving. Love, right where we are, means the birth of new ideas continually. Love’s might and majesty means we are not victims nor are we left alone.

Love fills all space, and so it also fills us up, gives us a feeling of worth, acceptance, and the ability and desire to share this love with those near to us and with our wider world as well.
