“In this life we have three great lasting qualities—faith, hope and love. But the greatest of them is love.” (I Corinthians 13: 13, JB Phillips New Testament)

These three qualities are limitless. Their reach is infinite, and their worth is eternal. We have the right and privilege to feel and express these virtues. We can consciously realize and utilize them in this life. Here. Now. Let’s not wait for a better day. They are ours right now.

We can remember that no matter how hopeless we may feel or how frightening the world may appear, faith in God’s goodness and hope for a brighter tomorrow have power. They proceed from God and focus on His presence, rather than holding to a false belief in His absence—a lie that can’t harm us or help us.

Faith brings freedom. We are allowing that inner heart that wants to believe, that knows it can, to give over to that right desire. It’s a release of control, of worry, of ego, to God and His infinite might, perfect goodness, and invincible, irresistible light.

And hope sees that light and follows it. It sees possibility and through its opened eyes is able to perceive and claim blessings in our lives and for others.

But the greatest of these lasting qualities is Love. Love created us. Love embraces us. Divine Love has always been and will ever be. It transcends human affection and dissolves hate. Love can’t be taken from us, for we are made of Love. Love can’t die, for it is Life. We will always have these three spiritual qualities to feel and use. Let’s freely accept the fullness of them and generously share the greatest one—Love.
