“Now this is what the Lord says. He created you, people of Jacob. He formed you, people of Israel. He says, ‘Don’t be afraid, because I have saved you. I have called you by name, and you are mine.’” (Isaiah 43: 1, International Children’s Bible)

God is telling us not to be afraid. When we listen, we can hear Him reminding us of His perpetual care for us because of who we are.

We are God’s own people, His beloved children, the expression of His goodness and the object of His Love. Because we belong to God, we belong to the Life that is good. We belong to the Spirit that is renewing. We belong to the Truth that sets us free. This is not a hope for later or a lost state of being. It is true right here, right now.

We have been saved, called. The Christ has revealed to us that we are not doomed and separate, mortal, limited, fearful. We are formed in God’s image and likeness, and so we naturally embody all the qualities that show Him forth, that prove the presence of good, the presence of God.

We have each been called by name. We are known specifically, formed uniquely, and loved unconditionally. We were intentionally created, just as we are, and our names—our true and glorious natures—are preserved by God, seen, and kept safe always and right now.
