“Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts.” (Science and Health, p. 261)

Let’s shift the focus. Let’s progressively think more about what is good and right and true—the spiritual realities of being—than the limited, the painful, the dark, the material perceptions of life.

It may take some discipline, but as we consciously choose to dwell on the enduring qualities of God, good, that are always with us and in us, we can proportionably lose preoccupation with the bad, the uncomfortable, the temporal worries and fears. As we do this, our experiences naturally reflect that change of thought. We see more beauty, more healing. We have more inspiration, more energy, more joy, more peace and prosperity.

Let the occupants in your thoughts be welcome guests, not ugly intruders. Anger, blame, shame, guilt, accusation, selfishness, resentment should be evicted to make room for gratitude, grace, lovingkindness, mercy. God’s qualities are more natural to us, and as we accept them, nurture them, steadfastly hold to them, day by day, our lives will be more what we’d like them to be and bring more to a world in need of that light as well.
