“Therefore, [let me warn you] beloved, knowing these things beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men [who distort doctrine] and fall from your own steadfastness [of mind, knowledge, truth, and faith].” (II Peter 3: 17, Amplified Bible)

We can hold onto our peace and know its power. We can stay true to our highest right—that awareness of God’s goodness and Truth and justice and Love. We have been blessed with an innate understanding of God which has been awakened, ignited, and re-ignited in us through the activity of the Christ.

We can stay calm and trusting and at the same time alert. We can recognize that there are those that may try to speak our language, to reach us with their promises, but who neither have our best interests at heart, nor are they genuine in their intentions. These individuals can appear wise or powerful, but they distort doctrine—they take what is honest and good and right and spin it for their own selfish or impure motives.

So, be on guard. The best approach is always to turn to God, to Truth, to Love for our answers. If we make persons our saviors and believe their words because they seem to speak with authority, we can be led astray. We can become mesmerized by human bluster rather than finding true peace, the greatest good for all, in the steady certainty of divine light.
