“Open my eyes so that I may contemplate wonderful things from Your instruction.” (Psalms 119: 18, Holman Christian Standard Bible)

Learning from God is getting the wisest, most useful, and wonderful instruction. It is more than a relaying of information or helping one to build up human skills. God shows us what Life is, awakens us to what is meaningful and truly wonderful!

We can willingly allow God to open our eyes to true discovery. This perception goes beyond looking with the material senses to find out what is good and true. God is constantly calling us to listen to Him and to truly reflect on what He is telling us—the Truth that goes beyond worldly ideas; the Love that transcends human emotion.

Let’s let go of the thought that we don’t know enough or that we can’t possibly take in all that is required of us to be intelligent and successful. Let’s allow God to uncover and lighten our eyes, as some other Bible translations render this verse. Let’s relish a daily growth in understanding, and the joy of contemplating the wonderful things that God reveals. Indeed, let’s love the fact that we don’t know all, for learning is growing, and growing means we are truly living!
