“Beloved children, our love can’t be an abstract theory we only talk about, but a way of life demonstrated through our loving deeds.”  (I John 3: 18, the Passion Translation)

It can be easy to preach the idea of love, to write about its goodness and beauty, but are we truly demonstrating this love? Are we proving the unifying, stabilizing, healing, power that love can bring to our lives, to others, to our world?

With a greater understanding of the Source of true Love, we can and surely must honor this awareness through a way of life that keeps this pure Principle uppermost in our minds, motivating our actions. We can purify our concept of Love. Love is truly divine, so it is infinite, far-reaching, mighty. This Love of God that we naturally reflect is not one that is needy or selfish. It isn’t a Love that we take out and use only at certain times or contingent on others and their behavior.

God’s Love is always present and active. It is ours to share at all times, and to feel blessed in the doing of it. Of course, we can feel free to talk about Love, about God, with joy and praise, but let’s also show our true affection for Love by living it, by our daily deeds. Every moment of love shared is one where God is seen more clearly, where healing happens, where goodness radiates and multiplies.
