“In Science, man’s immortality depends upon that of God, good, and follows as a necessary consequence of the immortality of good.” (Science and Health, page 81)
The qualities of God, of perfect being, are immortal. We know that Love is not reliant on mortals, on matter, or on time. Love is a property of God that exists everywhere and always has. It is broad in its definition and certain in its essence. Likewise, Truth is an eternal concept, never lost in interpretation. The Truth is always the Truth, no matter how it is viewed by limited perception.
Good is God and is infinite in substance and in presence and in power. Man exists in and of God’s own nature, so he is pure good expressed. His true being is as immortal as the idea of good, an ideal that is out of reach of mortality, distortion, loss, finiteness. Good is a living constant. God is the source of this beautiful ideal, and the real man is the proof of it at all times.
Man’s immortality, our deathless, ageless, changeless being, is reliant on the permanence of substance, of that which makes us up. Built of perfect good by a perfect hand, we must be as immortal as good, as solid as Truth, as expansive and magnificent as Love. Our life is the natural and necessary consequence of our origin and constitution. Goodness made us and makes us up. We are spiritual and Spirit is everlasting, immortal, and so that makes us naturally fearless, not to mention grateful and joyful and alive to our wonderful, eternal Life.
